it seems to be doing good at the theatres because of the fans of the actors ig. and it looks like they care more…
yeah, i just saw the fans of the actors in comments here claiming that this is the #1 film in korea and i don't really know a lot about how much they need to make or what really constitutes as a successful film in terms of box office. my mistake for not actually making sure about it and just commenting. but yeah in terms of a second film in ORV's name, once is enough ig, i don't need to see any more of this either.
doubt they’d even think of making another movie with this backlash. lmao, deserved. the og fandom does not play
it seems to be doing good at the theatres because of the fans of the actors ig. and it looks like they care more about making money than actually make it a faithful adaptation. so, they probably would make another film as long as those fans don't care about the original and just wanna see their favorites in any shape or form whatsoever. i really do hope that doesn't happen but it probably will ig.
Finally cancelled my order of book. Well done OG fans. I was looking forward to reading physical book. But now…
you're so real for cancelling the order of the physical book. this movie is already perfect as is and nobody needs to read that long ass novel about the ugly squid to understand this masterpiece of a film.
at least something good came of it ig. i was actually sad about the news of it's cancellation since i had recently…
i'm among those very few guys who have probably got the same thinking as you in this regard of japanese adaptations of manga, they do make some really good adaptations ngl.
at least something good came of it ig. i was actually sad about the news of it's cancellation since i had recently…
yeah! i understood that much about SBR getting an anime adaptation. i actually thought you were giving example of it as something which doesn't need a live-action adaptation and since i hadn't read it enough of it to be able to give a judgment on whether it's actually adaptable in live-action media, that's why i said i was unsure if it's compatible with live-action medium in general.
at least something good came of it ig. i was actually sad about the news of it's cancellation since i had recently…
I've only read part 1 of JoJo and I don't remember it, but I don't think I finished even part 1, so no idea about how compatible JoJo is with live-action media, but they should definitely keep their hands off Vagabond, I definitely don't want that, hell not even a single person who has read Vagabond would want that.
The author is either probably powerless and crying like most authors who's work were adapted without them playing…
there's an interview of the author where they've said that they only visited the set once, so that actually does tell that they had no involvement as far as to the making of the film and just had to put their trust in the director kim byung woo.
I'm glad wind breaker got cancelled before Netflix or disney- could get their hands on it.
at least something good came of it ig. i was actually sad about the news of it's cancellation since i had recently gotten into it but if i were to look at this way, it's definitely better that it got cancelled rather than being butchered.
it's pretty easy to guess if a review is authentic when you actually read it but these people just wanna go ahead…
haven't watched that drama, so i'm unaware if it's a reference to it. from what i understand, you seem to be referring to the last line that was basically sarcasm meant for the people that were calling out the review bombing happening here whereas the state mdl is in and the very "non-toxic" user base of it, review bombing has always happened on mdl and this is not the first case of it. p.s. i might've misunderstood your comment completely ngl
Calling new accs trolls when some of them genuinely have watched the movie and wanna give actual review so they…
it's pretty easy to guess if a review is authentic when you actually read it but these people just wanna go ahead and look in the wrong place just to say that this is review bombing. like this is the first time review bombing has ever happened on mdl.
Actually, the author used the opportunity of the movie release (new audience) to tell people to read the manhwa.…
nah! you're actually wrong about this since the film's title is OWV (Omniscient Watcher's Viewpoint) and not ORV (Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint), so the author is very wrong to say people to read it. it is definitely his fault and he should apologize for it.
p.s. i made it very obvious this time around but still for people who have trouble understanding things, this is again a sarcastic comment and i'm not being serious.
edit: since i've explained the part about reading ORV, i think i should explain the part about the fyi that i gave to this user named "x-Auren-x", the user basically states that the reason that Sing Shong, the author of the webnovel said people to read the film is because they wanted to promote the manhwa. now i explained to the user that the source material for this film is not the manhwa, but rather the webnovel. the manhwa is just an adaptation of the webnovel just like this film, rather than understanding what i meant by it, the user simply got triggered by it. for example, if i were to say about the upcoming anime of ORV that the author would get good publicity from this anime for their film, that would be very wrong considering that's not their creation to begin with, it's only a licensed adaptation much like the manhwa.
Why are some people mad about this? Is there a controversy with the actor (s)?
It's not the actors people are having a problem with, but the deviances from the original is what's making people agitated. Now that the early reviews are out, most of the earlier suspicions about this film changing major plotlines, character personalities and a bunch of other things have been confirmed. And most of the early reviews have called this film to be a thing of its own for how much it deviates and even looking at it as a separate entity doesn't make this film any better. So that's what all of this madness is.
Actually, the author used the opportunity of the movie release (new audience) to tell people to read the manhwa.…
you don't understand sarcasm, do you? the not watching film part was a very elaborative joke from my side lol. if i had wanted to confuse someone, i wouldn't have provided the original link to begin with.
and just an fyi, orv is originally a webnovel, the manhwa is just an adaptation like this la film, not the source material.
so did they reveal who han sooyoung is at the end? or not since they’re not planning to make a second season…
it only went up to the third scenario in the film and i don't exactly remember when she does make an appearance in the original, but from what i 've read in the reviews for this film so far, she hasn't been discussed even once or maybe i just missed it.
yeah, i read a few reviews on letterboxd and imdb too, seems like we were absolutely right to be the haters this…
yeah, they basically changed everything from the webnovel they were adapting it from, now it's just a thing of its own and seems like it didn't do a good job at that too and failed miserably. ngl might be a good popcorn watch but definitely nowhere near close to the original.
https://www.reddit.com/r/OmniscientReader/comments/1m72xzn/i_watched_the_la/TLDR: It's as terrible as expected.Edit:…
yeah, i read a few reviews on letterboxd and imdb too, seems like we were absolutely right to be the haters this time around. really hope they just stop it here and don't make any more of these films.
Why do you want it to flop ? The only thing I don't like is ji hye having a gun instead of a sword
Dokja basically says to the author that their novel is the worst and that he doesn't agree with Junghyeok's decisions and the ending that his decisions led to. Afterwards, the author gives him a chance to change the ending of the novel and hence the main plot of the film starts.
And if you've read even the prologue, you would know it's far from what happens and what Dokja's intentions toward both the author and Junghyeok are. To him, Junghyeok isn't only a fictional character, but also his only friend and even to some extent a father figure he never had. And for that he has major respect for the author of TWSA, and he has expressed that in his monologues multiple times.
And I'm only replying to your comment to state my reasons for why I think people such as me and a few others who're familiar with the source material are expressing their disappointment in this project, not because I'm giving affirmation of my desire for this film to flop. For what it has become, I couldn't care less if it flops or becomes a hit ngl. Though I can understand their sentiment too, considering if it does become a hit, it'll be the Omniscient Reader for numerous people while it still being a major disrespect to its source material.

damn, even Sing Shong, the author of the webnovel said to read Omniscient Reader and not watch it in their message for the film lol.
