A cute simple story .... But cute Fluff is not my cup of tea !!!
-- What kept me interested is Vill, she carried the entire show ... I liked watching her beauty (pun intended :P) and her fashions, even the outrageous ones. -- Everything else is boring .... Especially Push, in his first long main role.... he had more chemistry w/ the bird ... Boring 2nd couple (especially the girl)... -- Story would have been much better if done in 14 instead of 28 episodes.... way too much filler ... way too much lagging ... not enough humor... not enough plot!.... Irrational twist at the end! -- No delving into any of the characters ... besides the two angels lecturing on Good and Evil, no substance either. ... -- I liked the kids ... the cat not used enough ..
It may be strange for you, but I never follow trends. I watch what I like. :) Plus, I'm sick of k-dramas…
@ChristineDavenport ... You are not the only one... I got tired of them for a long time (2-3 year hiatus) ... Even now, I am very selective ... after heading downhill for a few years, they seem to finally be heading back up, to be more creative, and more realistic in showing romantic development of adults.
--- Second couple is way more interesting and had more chemistry than main couple....Love them! --- Loved 2nd lead actor, Boom..... adorable dimples.... Also liked his character very much... A sensitive artist manipulated by revenge.... Poor Chen Min, nobody told him anything! --- Mik didn't impress me here much, then I saw him in Talay Fai, and that's where he shone.... The guy has lots of potential ... Very talented!!!! --- Didn't like lead actress .... Pimmy is too whinny for my taste!! .... Don't see the appeal of her weak character either. --- Story is OK... But, major Plot Holes !!! ...often dealing w/ Daniel's decisions.
Interesting read. A bit more about K-drama trends specifically, rather than Asian dramas in general though. As…
Thais have been imitating K-dramas a lot lately ... specifically in the youth-oriented Rom-coms of last few years: Lots of situational comedy, fluff, cute scenes...and cut down on the stereotypical lakorn characters and tropes.
Also, they have re-made: Autumn's Tale, Coffee Prince, Full House, Playful Kiss, Sorry I Love you and I heard talk of Hana Yori Dango, not sure if it was made or not.
I'm really glad that DotS was so successful unlike other pre-produced dramas before it. Hopefully that trend…
@risingsun ... Excellent comment!!! ... U r right for mentioning the slight improvement in working conditions, since that became a major issue last year... w/ all the protests finally bringing it to light!
I think Matsujun did a great job matching Tsukasa's arrogance, immaturity, violence and vulnerability ... his whole acting style fit the manga.
However,
Jerry Yan and his Daoming Si went above and beyond, made tsukasa Real and lovable!!!.... more human, w/ deep emotions behind his arrogance .... deep passion underneath his cold exterior .... big heart and loyalty masked in his bullying ....
For once, I could understand why she would love the leader of the F4 <3<3<3
Besides, he's the Coolest, best looking, best body!...looked most like Tsukasa, hotter than artwork!
Good movie. Started slow, but picked up and the story was told well although I wish there was more depth, but…
Nice to see u here Chingu <3
Exactly my thoughts! .... Well-told story, could've used some more depth!
"Gangsters and badboys are my guilty pleasure hehe" ... me too ofc, especially when they're passionate!...and they most often are!!! ;)
P.S. This was my first encounter w/ Joo Jin Mo, and I stalked him since <3
I gave an extra 0.5 pnt for Wado Soko's long hair and goatee , too gorgeous ;) .... another extra 0.5 pnt b/c his character Ryosuke is very attractive - a gentle, sensitive, perceptive, romantic artist!..SO a 6 turned into a 7 just by looking at him... XD
Lots of K-drama references .... including references to K-drama Winter Sonata (no surprise, it was a huge phenomena in Japan) .... especially in episode titled "Summer Sonata" ... XD
Too bad they took a bit too much makjang from K-dramas !!!
Plot is a bit too contrived .... nice idea tho, but then they made it too literal when they related her and her mom's love stories :((
Still an enjoyable story, steady pace .... for me, it wasn't slow, and worth watching
He is good looking but his acting is wooden in my opinion. Dont know if anyone else thought this but I thought…
You may like it.... The characters are all very well developed.... A melodrama, w/ revenge as main theme, that interweaves Korean modern history, politics, business, family dynamics, romance, casino, gangs.... and a bromance to rival the romance.
Don't let the melo turn u away, it is NOT typical K-formulas and cliches!
Exceptional writing!!!....Not just an intriguing story, all relationships come in 3's, metaphors, etc... written like a novel!

SSH is not the best actor ..... but he's good enough ..... His charisma makes up for lack of expressions .. .XDXD
He was pretty good in East of Eden .... Can't imagine anyone else being the gentle and sweet, yet tough-guy, Dong Cheol <3
