The 4th prince I knew from Bu Bu Jing Xin was strong, influential and patient someone Ruoxi relied on. There was…
Yes... in SH/BBJX, it was 8th that was the outcast who pursued the throne to prove his worth, while remaining virtuous ... 4th was just ambitious and a calculating introvert.... No matter how kind 4th was, he was still unforgiving and ruthless, partly due to his jealousy over the heroine.... So here too, Hae Soo opened the door to his acceptance and she will partly be the cause of his bloodthirst.
Don't forget, Ruoxi was only nice to 4th for a long time b/c she knew he would be ruler and she feared him.... she only befriended him to be on the winning side.
It was after many interactions, that she admired and fell for him.
DON'T READ THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SPOILED BY A HISTORY LESSON - It really does suck that Hae Soo does not…
You are absolutely right!!! .... 4th, both in Chinese and Korean history was ruthless, but he was also a great ruler that brought many reforms and consolidated the power of the throne to make the country stronger.
When it comes to authoritarian rulers, it is "kill or be killed", that is the mark of their greatness, else they would not last.
The last episode made things clear.... HaeSoo opened the door for 4th to be accepted and thus to become king..... His motivation for ruthlessness is not only revenge on 3rd and his mother, but by the end, the root of his unforgiving bloodthirst will be jealousy over HaeSoo.
Maybe here he won't be so unforgiving, but he is already set up as obsessive over her.
In the same way, in SH, 8th was the outcast and his motivation is to prove himself but also Ruoxi's warning prompted his attack on 4th and set things in motion...
Here, in SHR, his motivation will be jealousy and his attack, or what seems alliance w/ 3rd, is set off by HaeSoo's warning.....
I hope he will remain virtuous to the end, like in SH.... and not be turned into a scapegoat so that 4th/WangSo, will come out as an idyllic hero.
As for the heroine ... many things, like her relationships w/ 13th and 14th and her fear of 4th, are not explored enough to set up her ending, like in SH ... So I'm not sure what they will do w/ Hae Soo.
I think if she ends like in SH, the crazed fangirls here will fly to S.K. and shoot the producers..XD
Do you guys think they will follow the Chinese version? Because I just found out a big spoiler and that really…
@sleepingbeauty - U r right in many ways
***Spoiler for SH**** Spoiler for SH***
I think last episode made everything clear.... In SH, 8th's motivation is that he was an outcast and had to prove himself, that's why the throne was important to him ... and his attack on 4th was only due to Ruoxi's warning.... So 8th is virtuous to the end.
Since here, it is 4th that is the outcast, not 8th.... 8th needs motivation to pursue the throne: Jealousy!
Also, in SH, 4th was ruthless and ambitious, at the very end, he was vindictive and unforgiving, partly due to discovering how much 8th and Ruoxi loved each other.
In SHR, Hae Soo openned the door for him to pursue the throne by getting support... and he already has enough motive for revenge/bloodthirst against 3rd ... but once 8th joins forces w/ 3rd, jealousy again will push him...
The only thing is that in SHR, 13th and 14th are playing a much smaller role... so her love for 13th is not going to start the deterioration of her health ... and where's the connection w/ 14th who was always there for her?
Also, they are not playing the fear well in this version.... and we both know how important that is in shaping history.
So Hae Soo, her decisions, her romances, will play a very large part in determining history....
The only question is whether she will marry 14th in the end, since they r not stressing their relationship here.
That is what I tried telling @IllaGG , but they are determined to just think that the rest is background for the romance and they just want to hate Wook and want more time for the OTP... Not realizing how important her relationships w/ all the Princes are.
Do you guys think they will follow the Chinese version? Because I just found out a big spoiler and that really…
You can't separate the romance from the politics in this story they both affect each other ...
Something is seriously wrong w/ the producers.... They are letting everyone think this is a typical rom-com w/ an OTP and the hero is perfect, the 2nd lead will get friend-zoned.:P
This is a much more interesting story, where no one is perfect... It is NOT about the romance... It is about how she survives among ALL the princes and how her decisions effect history!!!
Tbh this drama is losing my interest, only Wang So is keeping me watching, i mean we waited 8 episodes for the…
U r right, the photo and synopsis above are misleading..... Still we don't know how this will pan out....
It is an "ADAPTATION" of a book .... The C-version, SH, and the book, BBJX, are a Serious drama, full of great characters and palace intrigue. ....
It is NOT a Typical Korean Rom-Com where the heroine will only love the hero and the 2nd lead is friend-Zoned.
Her romance is not only w/ 4th.... She falls deeply in love w/8th, but 4th is the love of her life.
Edit: I corrected synopsis, but Skye wouldn't let me change photo b/c it look good and "enticing"...yeah Skye, Too enticing!
***Episode 9*** Original version (Subbed): http://hdfree.se/watch-online/moon-lovers%E2%80%93scarlet-heart-ryeo/ep09-sub…
Your links are correct ...I just figured it out.... hdFree has both versions, the box below the video lets you select:
Ep 9 RAW is the SBS version...1 kiss at the end
Ep 9 SUB is the Youku version ... 2 kisses at the end
***Episode 9*** Original version (Subbed): http://hdfree.se/watch-online/moon-lovers%E2%80%93scarlet-heart-ryeo/ep09-sub…
U know what's weird... I just watched hdFree version raw and it was exactly the same as the Kissasian...IT started w/ a song but had the SBS stamp, even ended w/ the one kiss.
I came back here to dbl check, clicked on the link again, and now it is subbed and has the double kiss.... Both versions of hdFree are open now in separate windows...Raw is 46 sec longer and has different preview.
Just to explain the weirdness, where did you see Youku version, since it wasn't on hdFRee until a few minutes ago?
Darn the idiots butchering the editing on the international version. They left out basically the best scene of…
@browncoat_78 ...totally agree... I didn't find much to like about 4th in SH, except that he did respect her and love her unconditionally.... also, perhaps he understood her more than 8th.!?
I am really glad 4th is likable here.... I want to give him a hug too :(
after ep 9 now i know writer doesnt like so as much as wook :( so unfair changing soo's feelings in minutes! she…
@elfudes ... It's OK, I understand :D
I agree, characters and actions were more realistic in SH original ... SH:Ryeo is a bit like fairy-tale version.
Did u watch C-version w/ Eng subs?...If u did, that just goes to show how good the writing is in the original, that even if ur English is not perfect, the depth of the characters and story comes through.
after ep 9 now i know writer doesnt like so as much as wook :( so unfair changing soo's feelings in minutes! she…
In original story that this is based on, the heroine fell in love w/ 8th first, she knew the history and how cruel 4th was ..... knowing the history affected her decisions regarding both 8th and 4th, and who to have a relationship with.
I won't say more so I won't give spoilers....
But that is why the original is so popular, it is NOT ur typical Rom-Com where heroine only loves the hero and 2nd lead is friend-zoned!!!
They have already simplified the characters enough in this version, let's hope they don't simplify the story more!
Darn the idiots butchering the editing on the international version. They left out basically the best scene of…
@browncoat_78 - hdFree and DramaFever have Youku/original versions
more info is in the forum thread listed above in "Recent Discussions" section. @Hessa usually posts links to both versions here, look for them.

I agree w/ what u say... but the credit of a good story and good characters is due mostly to the original story....
They changed things a bit in SHR, I think 4th is more likable, but I hope that does not mean that they are going to take away his evil, cruel ruthless side.... they would just be removing the complexity...
But it is a huge mess, the producers really messed up a wonderful opportunity. T_T
The ratings were low from the start, it is like SK audience didn't even want to give it a chance! :(
So I downloaded this whole drama, and was ready to watch it today. Then scrolled down and read the ending spoiler…
Please mark your comment as a "spoiler" ...
Although u don't mention what happens at the end, most people will still understand your disappointment/unhappiness as a sad ending,
EEEhh wtf did happen in ep 6/7 ?! It was so good until now and now i'm just watching the same soap I already watched…
I don't think she's doing a bad job .... Hae Soo is 16 years old, not yet adult...
Still, I don't like her being too childish... However, I really blame the writing.... The writing of the scenes where she has silly or clumsy encounters... Like 10th birthday decorations and the silly song, or how she clumsily served 3rd prince...
That is the writing, not IU.
If u watch the C-drama, you'll see how the heroine is very smart and clever, even at 16y.o. .... She knows that 10th is a "blockhead", so when he's childish, she puts him in his place by using historical metaphors ... He's speechless b/c he's too dumb to understand, and at the same time, she impresses the other princes by showing how clever and knowledgeable she is ...
Also, she plays w/ the maids.... But she does not appear childish, she just appears care-free, playful, fun.... thus being even more attractive as a woman.
Don't forget, Ruoxi was only nice to 4th for a long time b/c she knew he would be ruler and she feared him.... she only befriended him to be on the winning side.
