Oh gosh, you're making me want to rewatch GMP too!!

The xianxia elements are heavy in TTEOTM, but Tantai Jin reaches an ideal level of yandere around episode... 24/25? It's the most enamored I've been with an ML in a WHILE! He's only just barely beaten by Li Chengyin tbh. Also, now that you're out of the dream, the show is seriously about to kick off! Thankfully, there won't be another tangent like that.

SOKP has some INTENSE obsession scenes, but they occur later in the show. It's also overall a much lighter show than GMP, but Xie Wei is like... totally nuts, I guess. There were a couple of pleasantly shocking scenes! Like, you know how Li Chengyin has his insane scene near the end with Gu Jian and the arrows? SOKP has its own shocking crazyguy scene (and so does TTEOTM as a matter of fact! A few!!). If you want a sneak peek of Xie Wei's obsession though, just watch like the beginning of this clip:

I think you should wait on the GMP DC! Take some time, let it sit for a bit, and then come back to it. I would start at the beginning with episode 1 though, it really does hit different!

OMG Affinity! I'm currently watching it actually!!! On episode 13 and yesss so far it's a 10/10 on the obsession score!!!

My wild card rec for you to try is Till the End of the Moon! It's not a perfect drama, but it's known for being kind of addictive. It's like junk food! And since you like Affinity (which is also kind of junk food), you would probably like TTEOTM if you haven't seen it! (He's also my second favorite ML on the list behind Li Chengyi)

If you haven't seen it, you should also watch SOKP. The ML is SO OBSESSED and there are genuinely some insane scenes that had me gasping near the end of the show!

Both of the above are not as good shows as GMP. They suffer from being somewhat silly idol dramas as opposed to more serious political dramas, though SOKP does deal with some politics.

TTEOTM has a soft spot for me despite being junk food bc the ML is deeply lovable to me. The book is even better (and much, much darker) than the show if you read yandere webnovels, btw!

If you put on your shipping goggles, it *could* read as romantic... I mean, I ship it. And let me just say this: any romantic obstacles that are in their way are removed and ML and FL are pretty much everything to each other. So I can imagine a world where perhaps they would grow closer post-show. And that's my TED talk hehe.

I'm not done watching (bc it's HEAVY) but need anyone in this comment section to know that the Taiwanese drama 'Had I Not Seen the Sun' will end up HIGH on this list.

Thank you so much for the kind comment! I do update this list periodically as I watch shows (I am sort of always watching SOMETHING, but I've reached the point where I'm having to go into shows and just hope the ML is the type of ML for this list lol. I've watched most of the known ones...).

But I have bad news. D': So far, I have not found one as good as Goodbye My Princess. The closest might be Empress Ki, but the ML takes a long time to get there (unlike Li Chengyin who seems to get obsessed super quick before the memory stuff). But the vibes are similar to GMP, despite being a kdrama. And the ML is an excellent one.

The other costume dramas that I have on this list all pale in comparison. There's nothing quite like Goodbye My Princess. I can tell you that you might like Love Like the Galaxy! It's very well-written, though the ML is a different type than Li Chengyin. Still, it's worth a watch.

Finally, I don't have this one on the list yet because I still have about 10 eps left to watch, but if you liked the 'cruel to FL and pushes her away to protect her from more powerful people who would use his love against them' element of GMP, all while being secretly possessive and protective of her, AND while being a total black flag... You might try The Wolf. I don't think as a show it's on the same level as GMP, but as a couple... they're close.

OMG You are so right about this one!!! I actually have already watched it and had forgotten about it! I kinda wanna rewatch it before adding it to the list... But I've gotta add more minidramas because they are UNHINGED. Watching Stolen Love right now and he's been SUCH a yandere.

The fact that he's the 2ML is what's been stopping me from watching it, tbh. ;__; I get such bad second male lead syndrome that it can actually make me depressed. I loved the 2ML in 'Missing You' so much that I can't even add that drama to this list because it's too devastating...

Thank you!!! I didn't know what sort of lists to make beyond this (because I have very specific tastes and the obsessive love is my favorite), but I realized I also have a lot of love for and experience with enemies-to-lovers, so I'll make that one! :D

I see that one recommended a good bit for the obsessive trope, and the only reason I haven't added it to my watch list is because both ML and 2ML are unattractive to me in the posters (shallow lol)! But "to the point of murder" intrigues me, so I'll try to check it out for the 2ML. ;) Thanks for the rec!

THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING! :D I keep putting off my to-watch list because I end up rewatching Unchained Love. The FL is so smart and relatable, Wang Hedi is literally the dreamiest he's ever been... it's such a delight.
