Yes there are speeches but there are also plenty of examples: the women in Jiyang and Rundu taking steps to become independent, Princess Mengji and The Empress, Song TaoTao literally going to the battlefield to treat soldiers, the performer from Ruyun house who chose divorce over a staying with a man who did not give her respect.
