Title Beyond Evil Spoiler
whats with all the fuss about who took her home and "saw her last"her "father" himself said she reached home safe...why…
yeeep, exactly
all started well and intriguing and then suddenly later on (in a private meeting at his house even, not a formal questioning!) we hear the father "revealing" for the first time that his daughter had reached home.
And we (the viewers) were not the only ones surprised to find out, lol
I was like, wtf?
As you said, he should have been the first one to question, and the house the first place to look for clues and then start investigating based on those facts. Its common sense

Yes, I agree with the point you make about the father.
Maybe I'm not explaining myself well.
I was not saying they should suspect him right away.
Just that exactly because of the trust they had in him, and since they had his word that the girl reached her home safely and was thus killed later that night, the whole dramatization of who took her home or met her on the way and their reluctance to talk (no matter how cool and exciting the director made it to be) loses its meaning.
At that starting point of the investigation, reasonably thinking, the police should be looking for what happened within the time the father left home (with her supposedly safely sleeping inside) and the morning that her fingertips were found)
Of course they would question the people who saw her last, but not as main suspects, just as witnesses in order to ask if they noticed anything unusual in her behaviour, since she did arrive home in one piece and all those guys even appeared to have an alibi for at least till the time they left the barbecue.
In any case, I really did enjoy it cause the way of presentation made it really exciting regardless

My good impression of this drama ended up going down the drain.
Most of the positive feeling up until the 13th episode have been overshowed by the overwhelming frustration with Just How Wronged Du Shik Was!
I can be understanding to a point for when the wound was still fresh, but still, they took it too far both in the past and present. They were just looking for someone to shift the blame on and use as a punchbag and they chose Duk Shik cause he has a heart of gold and due to his tendency to blame himself for everything. Even the wife said "I wont apologise". Shameless. Thinks only her pain matters.
To hell with them.
There was no real "healing".
The poor guy was pressured when he wasnt ready and then slapped in the face with his past
Hye Jin (who I liked a lot despite her being a bit high and mighty sometimes) also proved to clearly not deserve him after ep.13.
The only reason I m not dropping it right before the final episode and rage-rating it a 1 is because of Du Shik, who turned out to becoming one of the characters I've loved most in all my years of watching drama and the truly exceptional job Kim Seon Ho did of portraying him.
The other decent character from start to finish is of course Ji Sung Hyun.
Thank god for him being the voice of reason and sympathy in this madness.
(and ok, the village people and specially the grandma, lots of love to her as well)
It could have been handled so much better though
Ugh, my nerves

after behaving this way, instead of her apologising she announces she wants them to take a break to "give him time" LOL
such BS
emotional manipulation at its finest

Case of Episode 1+2, why did the nurse bother reporting anyone? They were down to hours until she would be forever…
So true, she has the potential to be so much more
Wish you an enjoyable rant yourself!❤❤❤

Ok, apart from agreeing in general with everything you wrote
specially on the points you made under the spoiler tag
(found myself eyerolling at the same scenes)

I m in episode 7 now and my reason for commenting is to rant a bit about the sexism of the show to a like-minded individual (apologies in advance hah)

Like, ok, sexism is a fact in our society. I understand seeing parts of it in any series in order to be realistic.
But! I cant take it from the ML, expressed in a way that supposedly shows he cares, when in reality it is extremely condecending!
(Specially cause this show had such a high rating which led to high expectations in turn)

- A woman's neck shouldn't look like this
- You shouldnt have confronted a man alone
- It's dangerous being a cop, you cant live a normal life, get married....
etc

I wouldnt have minded if those were expressed in a "it is dangerous in our line of work to head in alone, please rely on the rest of us more" way
But unfortunately, to me it reads as "it may be time for you to resign and find somebody to marry and have kids - the life you were meant for"

She is a seasoned senior police officer for heaven's sake!

My nerves!
End of rant.

whats with all the fuss about who took her home and "saw her last"her "father" himself said she reached home safe...why…
Erm...
They should have properly questioned the father and focus on what happened after the father left home till the next morning when her fingers were found
If you remember, he admitted she returned home before he left for the get together
We even have him saying to the young officer that almost caught him red handed when he went to pick up fresh makgeolli, that she was in her room sleeping....
All the supposed suspects (who we were led to believe were suspects indeed because they met her when she was returning home) where at the gathering at the time.
I still enjoyed it but it was badly handled

if han joo won didnt have a reasonable objective besides petty stuborness for planting evidence to have the chief…
In my opinion he didnt.
I feel that the real reason for the whole thing was for Han Joo Won to throw Lee Dong Shik's words back to him (scene at Joo Won's house) and try to play him in the same way he was played.
I get that he feels betrayed that Dong Shik didn't follow up to his promise of turning himself in, but he took it too far and that factored in the chief's death.
At least he seemed to own up to it, really regret and grieve which has softened me up in turn.
Unless you are refering to sth that is revealed later in the series?

I m on episode 7 and loving it
My only problem is with how drug addicts are portrayed
Especially since they re not using anymore
And cold medicine with such strong effects?wha?
Is this really how they perceive them in Korea?
Like wth, in what world are they living

Even though I still feel the couples had more chemistry the other way round, it was a very enjoyable and well thought out drama after the first few episodes
