The Lament of Autumn is not a surface-drama! This drama showcases a cast of multifaceted characters with many…
Agreed! I love me a layered drama with multifaceted characters and even if sometimes I don't realize how layered it would be, it's really enjoyable once you're in it and get to use your analyzing skills. It's nice to watch dramas on a surface level but I like to have my balance although the deeply provoking dramas can drain me lol.
Whoever in here is secretly Li Boren come out right now! LOL. How did he know exactly what some of us were thinking when he went to talk with Ye Pingjun? He literally took the words out of my mouth after deeply analyzing and looking into both characters from the past episodes. Even Li Boren doesn't agree with Changxuan's actions. I like that he took the initiative to let her know because he's right, it's unfair for both parties to not know and what she does with that info is on her. If she still hates him after, fine with me too but at least know that he still helped .
I think Chang Xuan is drawn to Ping Jun for two reasons. On the one hand, she represents the more humane, gentle…
Yes to your point about his abandonment wound!! I was thinking the same. He's witnessed first hand not being a first choice and honestly who can walk away from that kind of trauma.
OMG!! Xu Ruohan and Cheng Lei both just shared photos they took of each other on set. As always, Cheng Lei's shots are so good! My favorite has to be the one of Ruohan reading the book and the one where she's looking out the window with autumn leaves.
Great point to this is him also saying "what the hell is wrong with me" really puts this into perspective…
I think it's great to see he also sits back to reflect. It will be a while before he improves but again, I'd hope the improvement is for him to understand others and himself more.
I agree. I think they're really trying to set the foundation for his character arc because they've made him so…
Exactly! I hope they can transform all of his sides into a coherent character too. Otherwise, it'd be a pain knowing that Changxuan does have his own soft side but he stayed split. Yeah, I'd hope that her character will soon get to make a decision for herself and not let any external voices impact her.
At this point, if they don't get together, I would completely understand. Like many people have mentioned, how can they? with their current situation. They're both not good for each other and I see no future but we'll see what the show does for the ending. I can accept a sad ending. I just hope it makes sense.
I will say, I like watching the military side of Yu Changxuan. I back his idea on the reform and trying to bring peace to the people. Plus, He's great with kids. What fascinates me is how we get to see 2 sides of him. The military side and romance side. Not only that but his inner conflicted feelings when it comes to Ye Pingjun. It highlights the complexity of his character. Romance is definitely not his forte and I don't condone his actions either but even he doesn't know what's wrong with himself. I hope he can grow from this and nurture both sides to be a better version of himself for himself.
Could it be Li Bowen, the woman who gives Pingjun the bracelet at the gathering in episode 3? And as for what…
Ahhh I think it is! I was trying to remember which character she was. Most of the girls look the same with their styling so I forget lol. Ok. Thank you for the explanation on Director Gu. I was too riled up from all the other events in the episode his words didn't help the fire. but that would make more sense.
Does any one know who's the girl that talked to Pingjun at the hospital and tried to convince her to go stay with Changxuan in order to help Xueting? Also, why did director Gu also tell Ye Pingjun that Changxuan always gets what he wants. Like that's any excuse for her to just give in. Sounds almost like some enabling behavior to me. None of these people are even considering Ye Pingjuns feelings. And ironically, the only one that is considering her feelings is the man who's struggling to understand his feelings without being controlling.
Okk… back with another metaphor: that whole clay figurine scene in ep 11. 🤓🥺 The more I think about it,…
Yes to your last statement! I can clearly see he wants to be Ye Pingjun's man to protect and defend for her but he's so scared of losing her his ways of being a commander has caused him to be toxic which doesn't work for things like love.
I just watched a clip from the arc where Chang Xuan holds Ping Jun captive, and he goes completely off the rails.…
Haha. Same here! The biggest clown is me. I knew what I was getting into but I can't seem to stop watching. His performance is crazy good as Changxuan.
OMG!!! The beginning of Ep.11. 😮 Cheng Lei the actor you are! Ngl, it was pretty uncomfortable to see his behavior with Pingjun. The way he played out that scene gave me chills. And our poor girl, those tears of defeat made me so sad.
Yu Changxuan definitely likes Ye Pingjun but the obsession is going to be unhealthy. And I hope that he can figure out a way to sort his feelings and truly fight for her the healthy way. The way I see it, he's always been one to use his power and status to keep things in his control, but Ye Pingjun has caused a major discourse in his way of thinking because she doesn't submit to his authority but challenges it instead. Right now, he's scared of losing her but the only way he's known to keep things is being authoritative hence the obsession. And if he does grow and learn to be a healthier person in relationships but Ye Pingjun still doesn't accept him. I would completely understand.

LOL!! I just now saw the search bar history poster of Yu Changxuan and Ye Pingjun. The questions are so hilarious. 🤣
