haha glad you liked it! i also was pretty confused to when watching it. It is such a crazy mix between very sinister and tragic but also heartwarming and loving, a nice series to be sure :))

one complaint I've read a lot about this series and a lot of korean bl series in general is "the kiss".

Personally i'm sick and tired of the kinda censored kinda not stage a lot of korean bls are in. it seems as though kbls are going through a evolution like for example Thai bls.

In my opinion every bl series (and really all romantic media) has the sexual content somewhere in the sense that not every series has to have it - its about where they store it.

And i have to preface this by saying that i do not want kissing or Nc scenes bc "uhh men kissing is hot" but bc i find that it is an important part of queer media - to a fault of course.


There's great series with a lot of nc scenes and there's great series without, but them without contextualises it in a way where it makes sense bc the story usually is about, amongst a whole ocean of other things in a relationship, sex or kissing or whatever in that realm.


Cherry magic is a GREAT example of a series with no nc scene, and of course it is implied, but sex isn't the the "attraction" of the series AT ALL. That makes sense bc the main character is inexperienced and also loses something if he has sex. they don't hide it away but on the contrary makes it a central theme without showing explicit scenes.

but (most no all) korean bl series doesn't give the vibe of "let's show the viewer that sex isn't everything in a romantic relationship, and make a plot and characters that makes sense to open a discussion" but more a "i no no wanna kiss another man:(".
And i get that the leads are in this series are in the same k pop group and i liked them both, but like choose someone else than a coworker that u obvi don't wanna kiss???? like did they have to do it???? (this is at least my impression- tell me otherwise if it is wrong)

i just really liked the actors tension and acting and the series was really what i imaged from the manhwa in a good way, but it's just so glaringly obvious that a kiss is missing and its missing bc the actors didn't wanna kiss - not bc there is a plot point. because HAVING A PARTNER AND NOT WANTING TO BE INTIMATE WITH THEM AT ALL WITH NO PLOT OR CHARACTER CONTEXT IS OUT OF BLS IN 2024.

Sure open a discussion of importance of sex in a romantic relationship and give us some Aromantic rep in a already queer themed series. And i enjoy a lot of queer media without sexual plot bc queer media should normalise the relation and the non sexual love in a romantic relation just as much as the sex .

You can alway argue for and against why a given series should or should not have a kiss. But imo this tendency really shows in this series bc it is based on a manhwa where they do kiss but the plot has changed bc of (maybe) the actors personal conflicts. its giving 2018 thai bl, its giving chinese censored bls and im over it !


What do you think tho? Give me arguments for and ofc against. It's just something i've thought a lot about and saw in the comments so wanted to share my opinion but i would love different takes and opinions <3

Just going by your watchlist i feel like you would enjoy it. it got the tragic mystery but also the romance and humor! I personally like manner of death better tho but watch them both if you want and report back on which one you prefer:))

So true! I dropped the series at ep 5, but I just come back to see the craziest out of context things about the plot hahaha

well it makes it more interesting with the rich bangkok kids thing, i didnt know that! i dont see why him being mixed is relevent tho when his native language seems to b thai and not english? ig i just find it kinda tow curling in a sexual context. but thats just me, everybody has their own sources of cringe!<3

im kinda sad about this one honestly. like its dragging SSSSOO much, and the eps are long for no reason, like we dont need entire cooking scenes or all the friend scenes where they dont even really talk. like the lines are pretty bad, and i feel like the cemesty between the charaters is off. i reaalyyy wanted to like this, but ig im just gonna watch the final ep;(
