People sympathize with the victims in kdramas but when the same actors playing the victims on screen are exposed…
It's like do you even learn anything when watching these shows? Everyone applauds characters that fight injustice, but when in real people speak up about injustice people pile up against them just cause the evil guy is....handsome? WTF?

Thank you for writting this. I think all the people wondering why the victims doesn't talk sooner should read…
The comments on his IG make me lose all faith in humanity. Why people put idols on a pedestal I will never know. Yes I get it, s/he is your bias but that doesn't make then infallible. Acting that way about another human you absolutely DO NOT know in person actually puts more pressure on them, and thus makes for a very toxic setting.

I used to love Park Shi Hoo but after his rape allegations came out, and evaluating the information it really made me simply remove him from my favs. It's not that hard to do, these people don't need/deserve blind loyalty. They just play some characters on screen- they aren't noble prize scientists saving the planet.

I feel bad for everyone else involved in the show. I don't think this was a drama I would have picked up but I know from previous stories that this can have a serious blow back (e.g Faith where iirc the producer committed suicide because he got too in debt due to production costs). I feel like Ji Soo and his agency should compensate at least the crew member because they are often to most underpaid.

And if he is running off to MS to hide from this scandal then I have to say the only way he won't look cowardly is if he actually hold himself accountable to everyone he has hurt in his past and the crew of this show. Otherwise he simply running away.

Honestly I don't think cancel culture really exists in the way people think it does.
it's like you said- it's quite temporary (although yes that may feel like a lifetime to the person being "cancelled"). I think people confuse cancel culture with actual crimes committed and think its unfair. What people fail to understand is if there is actually a crime committed then any non- celeb would usually face legal punishment, but if it is a person in the public eye - then some how it turns into "cancel culture"?. It's not about cancelling someone, esp in this context- it's about the victims seeking some VERY minor form of acknowledgment. I really don't like how in this specific case he is being protected as the victim by so many people (just read his ig comments :vomitt:) where as there are allegedly very real victims (I use allegedly even though his apology and the outpouring of comments seem to all but confirm his crimes).

I think the MS for him, and other k-idols who often go off into MS when a scandal hits normally helps them set a stage for comebacks. So no- I don't think he is being cancelled, and no I don't think this is a witch hunt for him, I do think he is super troubled and he doesn't really seem to have understood the consequences for his actions. I think holding people accountable for such reprehensible acts actually is more beneficial for them than crying about "oppoaarrr sarahangeeee!!1! Fighting!!11!! <3" . If you never are held accountable for the hurt you cause, why would you ever stop to self reflect and grow?

And his victims?
This comment reeks of victim shaming and a very poor understanding of how trauma works. Also read up on how easy it is in SK to sue/get jail time for defamation even if what you are saying is TRUE. So stop with the victim shaming/ it's in all in the past nonsense. It's not in the past for the victims, it's part of their daily lives that they have to live with FOREVER.

Too tired to respond to the various sick comments so I'm just gonna vent here. I don't know the truth, none of…
Thank you for this esp no 3. Why is it so easy for people to say "forgive him cause he was a kid" but "why didn't the CHILDREN he victimized do anything back then" in the same breath. Sick of this as a defense. And sick of people saying "they only coming after him now for the money"- Learn a little bit more about SK laws and you will understand it is much easier for him and his company to sue the victims speaking out rather then them being able to gain anything from this. Not to mention these companies have the resources and power to do more damage to the victim than the individual victim to them.

Seriously I'm sick of reading these people crying how unfair people are being to their Oppa for SERIOUS CRIMES he should have really been thrown in to jail for.

I am in agreement with you. I can't say I support his past actions, none of us do, but I support the person he…
So its totally ok he was a kid and this is all "past actions" but that his victims were ALSO kids at the time, probably had no idea what they could do/were too traumatized at the time and may have even brought it up to teachers/parents but were ignored? And that these kids felt so horrible and ashamed because of what Ji Soo did in "his past" that they have to deal with these scars for life but hey it's ok because he is an idol now and surely he is no longer like that cause it's
"in the past".

You're awfully forgiving of the things he did "in the past" without understanding that trauma can take years to undo, if it can even be undone and just as he was "a kid" so were each one of those victims. And they, more than anyone else deserve the most compassion in this horrible situation.

When I found out you can face possible jail time for under the guise of defamation for TRUE facts in SK I was so shocked. The system is really designed keep things quiet and protect the rich/powerful instead of those are seeking true justice.

The thing is, we all watch dramas here where people fight injustices and applaud these on screen heros, but when it comes to real life people want to always protect the perpetrator and shame the victims without realising how few options these victims really have. Real life victims are treated like the criminals and the idols like Gods that can do no wrong.

And more so in this particular case- the victims were still in school when this happened- adults barely understand what options they have when facing assault of any kind, what then these children? Why are people so shocked they are speaking up now when they are grown up, feel that their trauma needs to at the very least be acknowledged? What could they have possibly done as children too traumatised/ashamed to tell an adult, or if they did were told to pretend it didn't happen otherwise it would hurt them more than Ji Soo?

I seriously don't understand people crying about "you guize are going to cancel oppas career and its not fair!1!!!1" - what about the lives of ordinary people he ruined and never seemed to have apologized for? How is his career worth more than the lives of other humans?

What he did was a crime and he deserves punishment like any other normal citizen would face for their crime. Calling…
Yesss! I hate when people are asking for someone to be held accountable for THEIR own actions people think it's bullying.
Ofc its not ok to make death threats/verbally abuse anyone that goes without saying.

This goes beyond Ji Soo to be honest, it really needs to spark some change in Korea's schools and the culture of silence around oppression. And people who are reasonably asking him to be held accountable (even in the smallest way because lets be honest this is never going to see a trial) is NOT the same as cyber bullying.

Yes! If you don't feel the consequences of your actions you will never stop the vicious cycle you are in. Also I can't with the my oppa/unni could never crowd. Read this today: "morals before idols" and it can't be clearer.

What he did to others extends far beyond just bullying. It was downright cruel and disturbing. Not to mention…
"I can't even begin to imagine having a past like that and thinking it would be a good idea to start a career in the spotlight." - I feel like people who commit crimes like his think they are untouchable in some way, that they can get away with anything because they have for so long. Even his apology reeks of "oh no I got found out" instead of true repentance. If he truly understood what he did was wrong before he would have reached out and apologised to the victims long before this all broke out. And even then it is up to the victims if they want to forgive him- it's not up to him. He's just damn lucky this will never go to court but it really should, esp the sexual assault stuff.

I am the kind of person who would say, "I told you so" and who would say it again, and again, and again. The reason…
"And I hope I never have to read another "I am sick of #MeToo and cancel culture" again."
THIS. I can't believe that was ever even said. And also really does cancel culture even do anything? I can't think of many celebs that were actually "cancelled" unless they committed real crimes that landed them in legal issues/jail?

For people who whined about being "sick of #MeToo and cancel culture"- I hope you understand why these forms of protests are now taking place around the world. Esp in S.Korea where the law really seems to be geared towards keeping victims of such things silent. You can literally can get punished in SK for defamation even when the facts are true:
"... South Korea’s Penal Code describe various “crimes against reputation,” including defamation, defamation through printed materials and insult...However, truthful statements can also lead to criminal liability. Individuals who defame others by “publicly alleging facts” face up to three years’ imprisonment. In these cases, the defence of truth is only available to defendants who can demonstrate that their communications were made “solely for the public interest.” Individuals may also face up to a year imprisonment for “publicly insult[ing] another”."

So for those crying "cancel culture" evil and oh my oppa/unnie could never + why don't these people go through court/reveal themselves with proof of identity : there are actual laws that prevent them from speaking up. Also cancel culture rarely work- at most people disappear from the public eye (esp if they are male) for a few years and then make their come back with barely any consequences. E.g. in the case of the Burning Sun scandal YG is doing great and has not really been affected, most people have already forgotten and moved on despite the pure evil that was exposed through the allegations.

Will there be false accusations made by people towards celebrities for no reason (e.g Tablo), yes- but they should be treated as you would anyone else, with neutral caution, without resorting to crying about "cancel culture" and stanning up for your fav, because your fav is still human- and humans can be wonderful but they can also be evil.

On Dr. Romantic Season 2 Mar 3, 2021
I can't explain why, but I loved season 2 more than Season 1. Season 1 was great and all, but it always felt like there were elements missing. This season was great, perhaps cause Seo Woo Jin is more likeable than the ML in the first season or perhaps as a viewer you trust and love Kim Sabeo more. It was a fun ride and I binged through this in 2 days.

Like the first season this one has everything, great characters, comedy, romance, drama and really thoughtful writing. Definitely recommend watching.
