I just finish watching this drama today within 1-2 days. The beginning was a little slow but once the female lead…
Episode 5 marks the turning point for this drama, so you should at least watch till there and see if it's to your liking, or not, since drama are entertainment and we all value different thing when it comes to such media.

I know you meant 'low key' offended cuz those graphs were reductionist all the way across...so comedy. Although…
Yeah that's quite right :') They do have the likable character and thing usually. I actually got into anime really late, about 5 years ago but that doesn't mean I didn't watch older anime, in fact some of my absolute favorites comes from mangas written in 2000 - 2005, Nana is one example I adore so much. and I actually own Sailor Moon manga too, even tho I haven't yet read it, it's been in my read-list for a while, and the art is absolutely gorgeous! I first got into anime with Dragon Ball so I guess that still leaves me a soft spot for the old school anime, but since most of the old school are shonen/ and bright type, I watch less of them and go for more darker, realistic slice of life anime that have aired in the last decade more.

Currently have a very pretty looking Violet-chan on my PC wallpaper, I just adore my anime wallpapers.

I was kinda offended being an anime fan! You know there are some stuff like Madoka Magica that aren't at all featuring the strongest villain to be defeated, but the protagonists themselves are their own biggest enemies. What's written here clearly serves some purpose to describe most shonen anime, but that's only one genre out of all anime has to offer.

So that's really a vague way to describe the whole amazing world of anime and quite the understatement. I totally enjoy K-Drama and my absolute favorites don't really fall into that stereotype setting you discussed (the poor female, the revenge and the fall in love stuff) but still I do agree that at least a great deal of K-Drama in fact follow that (Doom at Your Service at least does, which I have just started and are planning to give it a shot EVEN tho I hate this stereotype setting, and kinda wish it will not follow it to the end)

Best drama ever, truly loved every bits of it. Love IU. Love Lee Sun Kyun. Miss the whole Naui Ahjussi staff.... and to you reading this... You're a nice enough person.. hang in there!

Thank you so much for sharing your opinion, and yeah this is still based on fan favorites from MDL from the start, like since many years ago, if you go by only recently, sure Seo Ye Ji might have more fans than Park Shin Hye, but Park Shin Hye has been active for almost a decade and that number is the accumulation of her hard earned popularity since then

Oh that's nice, both are dramas that has been on my lost for so long but didn't get pushed enough to start them, now I have a solid reason to do. and I totally agree with him being a brilliant scriptwriter. He recently even participated in the anime industry with writing the script for an original anime called Wonder Egg Priority. If you're interested enough, I recommend it highly. It's a darker toned story of one's dreams and waking up to the reality, and it share his iconic 'friendship empowerment' with a very nice female cast of different personalities at the focus of the story.

You should definitely try lipstick, too, if you haven't done so yet, if not his magnum opus, It's still a classic and a fantastic work of art!

I may be biased and making a big deal of it already haha, I admit have a soft spot for Jdramas released in 90s, for their innocent vibe and poetic writing... but I have no doubt you can enjoy it it a lot! You seem to be a fan of psychological human drama, and this one is exactly that!

Well. I wouldn't want to continue this argument any further. But thanks for the detailed reply.

Btw, you're most likely in the wrong if you think I'm biased. Flower of Evil was only my 2nd drama of Lee Joon Gi, after Two Weeks which I had seen a few years ago. Same with Moon Chae Won, I had seen only one of her works, called Innocent Man, which is honestly not something to go crazy for!

I went into the drama without even anticipating anything great enough! Yet it was indeed the quality of the drama, the directing and the actors shining all together to make me love it so much.

I just wanted to note this. It's not my bias, but the drama's charms, power and love put into it that makes it a masterpiece. much similar to other dramas I consider so, like My Mister, Stranger and Signal (I went into them without knowing any of the main actors, including IU, who I discovered there)... and sure you don't need to have the same idea as mine, but you should still respect those long 7 months of filming, and all the hard work put into in the burning summer (due to covid-19, they took longer than the usual 3-5 months) and not calling it undeserving or even worse off thinking it was absurd to win a prize!!

The best direction (Flower of Evil) was absurd .Didn't deserve it .
You're definitely entitled to your opinion, but Flower of Evil indeed had an amazing directing! and one of the best in recent drama history! It's very well deserving of it!

It seems you have given a pretty low rating to the drama itself, which doesn't make so much sense unless you're one of the people who were hating on the drama, or something from it in particular?

AND! Please just WHY did you give Healer a 1 ? I just can't draw anything from here! Healer was not a masterpiece. but it was certainly an amazing show full of thrill, romance and great acting/ even the OST was top tier... so what's wrong with it?

Do you perhaps incredibly hate the 'sudden game over..... force shutdown... sad ending.... >>>> wait it's still not over .. revive... happy ending ?

Does anyone have a link to the O.S.T for this drama? I searched a lot and only found a few tracks, but the one I want to listen to, is located one to the last track on the original CD, called "Fight to the end ~その日の前に~"

If someone perhaps have it, please let me know. if not, I was thinking of purchasing the CD which is available on Amazon JP, but it's kinda extreme to buy the CD only for one track... so I thought I will ask here at least, before doing so.

Oh I'm a fellow Nojima fan too, even tho I'm late to this discussion, I loved Lipstick the most, and I'm planning to watch his other works too, I thought this was his drama too, midway through it and just realized it's not his actually... still an amazing drama I got into, Ashida Mana is an amazing actress and a favorite of mine!

Congrats Kim Soo Jin for winning the BEST SCREENPLAY awards in the 57th Baeksang arts awards!

AND much congrats to SHIN HA KYUN and the rest of the staff for winning the BEST ACTOR, and BEST DRAMA awards respectively in the 57th Baeksang arts awards!

They totally deserved this! And Beyond Evil was indeed a masterpiece of a work, deserving all praise and much love! I would be happier if Choi Sung Eun won the best new actress awards too, but it doesn't mean she isn't good, she still has a long way to go, as this was her first big role, and hopefully she can shine better on her next projects!!

Best Drama, Best Screenplay, Best Actor

'Beyond Evil' was one of the only two drama that could be happy about winning these titles, and they indeed won! And this speaks quality over popularity, and as a big fan of both the drama and Shin Ha Kyun himself, I couldn't be happier about these results, very well deserved!
On Flower of Evil May 13, 2021
Congrats Kim Chul Gyu for winning the BEST DIRECTOR awards in the 57th Baeksang arts awards!

To be honest, I feel like the Flower of Evil staff, and everyone involved in making it worked very hard, being nominated 5 times in the Baeksang Arts Awards mean something if not a lot!

Best Drama, Best Screenplay, Best Actors and Best Director!

'Flower of Evil' and 'Beyond Evil' were the only drama that could be happy about winning these titles, and they indeed won, Beyond Evil stealing the scene tho but hey they are both masterpieces of a human drama, this speaks quality over popularity, and as a big fan of both drama, I couldn't be happier about the results, very well deserved!

[I still feel sad Moon Chae Won wasn't nominated, hope that she will get more love, more recognition in her new projects]

Actually, I do I usually do check D-addict. but I found their release which was apparently posted online on 2018 and it wasn't in sync, I just realized the D-addict version right now is in fact in sync, probably done somewhere between 2018 - 2021 Jan (last updated on D-Addict, it says)

Anyways thanks for the tip, I should check there more frequently from now on

wait i don't understand, wdym "sophisticated viewer"? /gen. Do you mean like, viewers who haven't been watching…
I get that since I have seen more than just KDrama and even some anime does better at the detective and cat-mouse stories. It's just this drama never wanted to be a detective story and was marketed as a 20% suspense, 80% melodrama. so you can safely assume the suspense and all ended with episode 5 and was mostly like a build up for the characters personality and the main plot.

Agree with everything except no. 3 (Sorry I’m just not a fan of Lee Min Ho). I want her to act with better actors.…
I agree too, just can't stand Lee Min Ho's acting... and I would say 100% satisfying if she acted with Jo In Sung or Lee Joon Gi once again (will be her 3rd time if they really teamed up again)
