I will say this from a guys perspective....taiyou no uta is the best romantic movie I've seen, The girl who secretly admires the guy is so romantic, she is a night girl and he is a morning boy she cant meet him cause of her condition. Then when they finally meet the setting become gray-ish its like dark meets light and thats the strength of the movie the directing it is superbly done, the silent moments and those instrumental music inserted in a scene where necessary(that makes us feel what the character are feeling). The casting is great too they choose yui who is a fresh and not so experience actress and that's the requirements for that type of character. I wish I can express more on how I love this film.
Believe it or not I haven't seen suzuki sensei but I saw the movie. Im picking the right timing to watch that and just the plot alone I feel it should be one of the best ever.
this is such a great drama...yes it is episodic but i dont mind seeing 100+ eps as long as I can see tada and gyoten interact again. Gyoten will probably become on of my favorite characters i saw his charisma is the same with jack sparrow(johnny depp).
My favorite scene was when that dude try to buy that gun from them because he thinks he looked tough when he owns that...then they played russian roullete with it and htat dude impersonate movies like deer hunter and actor robert deniro( he is trying american accent using japanese language LOL). Tada said to stop because it is dangerous but that dude keeps pushing it until he shot his leg LOL that look at his face is pricele$$ then he left the gun and leaves as if nothing happen.
2013 is ryuhei matsuda's year he played gyoten, mizuguchi and the movie the great passage.
I live in philippines and I remembered teachers saying stuffs at japan like they are devils etc. that is true to those who commit war crimes but generalization is the word I hate in this world...we should be open minded cause war is war and both sides will lose at the end. It is good to see war movie thru japan perspective.
About the movie...I love how they portray the emperor here and perhaps the best performance by Masahiro motoki. Its a war movie but its not action packd no blazing tanks etc......it is just events that happen before japan surrenders.
ken yasuda is such a great supporting actor...the gay dude at mondai aru, yuya yagira's rival at aoi honno and this role. Btw that actor who played mano is good too I love how that character develops.
that episode 10 omg that was intense and they execute it well....I dont mind the cliche as long as its done well, the music and the actors they're reaction that was perfect scene to me.
