That last part is pure catharsis, the performance, the production design, the colors, the direction, the music after witnessing a 3 hour of this fictional outcast kabuki character it is one of the most powerful ending I've seen in a movie.
If they go with star power and marketability I think it will be suzu and nana mori or denguchi natsuki and nana mori. Koreeda might make the characters a bit older. But my preference would be the original voice actors mizuki yoshida and kawai yumi imo they will do a better job. Or he could go with fresh young actors whom is closer to the original age of the characters I won't really be surprised if that were the case.
It only makes me want to check the manga cause the story felt incomplete in a way it reminds me Gyakko no Koro live action in story telling department. It just focused on the slice of life elements and not so much on the resolution. I did some research so apparently the manga author is a cancer survivor and that experience inspires him to write this manga. Simple mundane moments he missed during the time he was hospitalized and that longing was perfectly captured by his characters in this manga. I sometimes felt that too after hardtimes simple things like eating outside, running or basking under the sun felt so good. I don't know the word to explain it or is there are word to describe that phenomenon but watching this drama reminds me of it.
Mipo O comeback film is a touching family story that spans years. It tackles the subject of CODA (child of deaf adult). It follows the life Igarashi Dai as he grew up in a family where his parents are both deaf. Watching this movie made me realize how in one time we also done shit to our parents atleast for me that was the case. Good thing we all grew up realize our mistakes and become a better person. Not just the mom but the father is a good person he push his kid to Tokyo because he knew he will learn things there that are not possible in a countryside. Mipo O is one of the most progressive director in Japan working today you really feel kindness while watching her works she btw cast real deaf actors in this movie. She commented when she interview deaf people while researching for this movie they said seeing non deaf actors doing sign language in film is like watching foreigner actors with broken Japanese and you know what it makes sense.
It went too cliche towards the end but the execution of climactic scenes is still great. I would say I like the first half the most. Still a solid drama very educational when it comes to horse racing in Japan.
I love this drama overall but I wish they would at least let Meguru-chan to win against Nagi ðŸ˜
When Kanade mention that hyakunin isshu was written by losers I already know she wouldnt win and I honestly I prefer it went that way. There is a trend for Genz people to always compare themselves to others because social media. The messaging for chihayafuru is always consistent.
I put Chihayafuru side by side with Rurouni Kenshin as best anime live action adaptation and this sequel surprisingly exceeded my expectation. It is one of the reason why I love Japanese dramas/movies a lot. These poems are the foundation of Japanese society and as what they show in this 2025 sequel those poems will always be relevant. I love how the new MC Meguru is very different from Chihaya you could tell the character is written now and not 10 or 20 years ago. The development is very realistic and somewhat inspiring and how it connects and enrich an original character like Kanade is stroke of genius. What a character and Touma Ami give it justice, Mone Kamishiraishi is great too especially at that last part. Episode 5 and 10 is a masterpiece if only the drama had that quality in all episode I would give it a 10 but overall this is a really solid drama. One of the best Japanese drama this year.
This show got some cool characters with some very cool intros for them. It's like characters in a video game. The most interesting so far is the ainu archer played by Shota Sometani he is very good playing these cool characters lol. Love those fights very creative he got some aimbot with that bow. His reunion with Ito Hideaki since WoodJob! is such an epic fight sadly it got cut short cause of plot. The ninja is an intriguing character too we still don't know if he is an ally or he betray them later on. Hate Higashide or not but the dude can really act he is perfect for that character. I feel Kaya Kiyohara is a bit younger for her role but acting wise she didn't fall short. Overall it is a very enjoyable cool fight scenes with netflix pacing. I would say zero boring moments a very bingeable show. The fights are very kenshin-y than old classic samurai movies.
Such a good movie it get heavy in the middle especially towards the end but ended up positive. What a heartwarming ending. Sacchan is a great character and Ito Aoi is such a great actress. The thing I love the most is the dialogue Japan is just unmatched when it comes to it.
I knew it. That's why it has hirugao vibes. People behind hirugao work on this drama. Poetic unapologetic mess it dives deep into human minds, exploring that intricate aspects of thoughts and feelings. The reason why I watch Japanese dramas so far I love it.
