Exactly my point, it wasnt the genre itself that "failed" those dramas, it was many other factors and although yes CGI is a big factor its not gonna be the ONLY thing that can let down a drama so its not a valid point to say "thats why its hard to please viewers" as what I was trying to explain to the original comment.

I dont think you realize how much of a staple genre xianxia dramas are in China lol the production of these kind of dramas in China aint slowing down at all and yes although it is criticized for plots being the same, there are still a big target audience who enjoy xianxia dramas regardless of how they may feel about the quality.
NPE still did very well and had a following, MTC may not of reached its potential but theres other factors and not simply because its xianxia. Keep in mind not everyone will care so much abt CGI, not everyone is hard to please, people will watch what they wanna watch.

Theres no way Xianxia a huge genre is reaching the end of its popularity lol theres still so many upcoming Xianxia dramas and more Xianxia novels are being turned into dramas just like TBW so thats not a worry at all as theres always gonna be a demographic target in China.

All I can say is the source IS reliable according to Chinese Alices. They expect it wont have much editing or visual effects so post production can be faster, I dont think theres any point to compare this with YAMG or her other dramas because they are extremely different genres and just overall circumstances.
