legal in japan, who are we to judge . plus there's a world outside of first world countries . almost entire of middle east and south asia, even south east asia. 16 y/o dating 22-25 y/o is just not common its somewhat the norm. parents would rather prefer the girl dating someone older and stable than someone her own age. even today in some of these countries "suitable age gap" for marriages is 7-8 years. same age relationships are frowned upon. but yeah the genders are reversed here. either way the age gap is considered "normal" but of course the gender reversal is not
