On If You Are the One Feb 8, 2026
The dialogue between the protagonist and the Taiwanese girl about how what happened to China is perceived (沦陷 / 解放) is really interesting. It was nice back in 2008, when China really seemed to be opening up to external issues. Today, jokes like that would never be allowed

Title Love Will Tear Us Apart Spoiler
A bright and entertaining movie that ended up touching me more than expected. And for those who are wondering…
The last message the girl receives didn’t arrive together with all the others, which means the boy sent it in real time. In fact, we then see him smiling while he’s in the car (he probably woke up). The page that turns at the end to “but if I live, I’ll marry her” is a clue meant to show us that this will be the reality. Right after that, in the end credits, we see him unfrozen, with the girl at the station smiling with joy.
Always watch the credits!

Awesome cast, amazing movie, definitely a 10/10 for me.
I love how it’s Nina's past self telling her future self how she feels about Sophia!

I still don’t really understand what I watched lol... a parody of Matrix and Hong Kong's kung fu and hitman movies from the 90s? I think there’s also a reference to Fallen Angels when we get the close-up of him riding the motorbike with the woman.
It’s one of those “experimental” movies you’d expect from that late 90s, when everyone was scared of the new millennium and technology. The plot doesn’t make much sense, but the old-school internet and gaming vibes make this movie somehow mystical. And the opening food delivery scene is phenomenal!

This is such a wonderful movie where people's insanity is portrayed in a way that makes this movie scarier than a horror one. While I do agree that there was a bit of exaggeration towards the end, I can't help but love it.

Title Vanished Spoiler
So, a girl falls in an air conduct without screaming for help and without making any kind of noise. Her friend who knew this all along kept silence for whatever reason we never get to know. The police and the girl's family search everywhere but in the place where she went missing. Sure, this makes 100% sense!
Do we also have to talk about the girl leaving her car on the road and running away? Who would do that? Seriously.
This movie didn't make sense at all.

I usually like Korean melodramas from the early 00s but I'm not gonna lie, I struggled a lot to go through episode 1 of this one. It was a complete mess full of nonsense, nothing made sense and characters were so badly written that I couldn't even sympathize with any single one of them. I see that this is a shared feeling between other users in the comments here.
I usually tend to like everything but this time I thought I've found that one exception...

...but, I went through all the episodes and, I ended up loving it! Those who seemed to be plot holes got their explanation eventually and I'm surprised to see how the story continued in a fairly consistent way (well, this is if you are familiar with 00s melodramas settings). I found myself empathizing a lot with the characters while watching the series. Good cast, beautiful OST and perfect ending in my opinion, which is perfectly consistent with the course of events (and hit me so bad).

This makes me really think that episode 1 was recorded at the end and maybe because of the little time available or because its writing was rushed, came out like that.
So, to everyone who is struggling to go through episode 1 like I did, don't give up. Give it a try!

I see a lot of comments about how bad the fighting and jumping scenes were. This kind of scenography is part of the 80s Hong Kong's wuxia culture and I actually find pretty interesting how the director here had a very good understanding of that. Other examples are the figure of the wise hermit that has incredible medical skills, or the presence of the cave, which were all constants in every Hong Kong's wuxia. You can clearly see the intention of the director to imitate that, and it turned out pretty well in my opinion!
Also, funny to see how, despite it being mainly a wuxia, you can find the influence of the Korean's 00s melodrama wave with family matters being the main plot.

Anyway, I liked it! This was my first Korean wuxia and I'm pretty impressed. The acting helped a lot with the immersion in the story, and the end made me cry! The story sometimes stumbles in some parts that would have needed more plot explanations in my opinion, and I sometimes found some incoherence in characters psychology, but overall, a great drama! Giving it a 8.5.

I honestly think that this article is the result of too much overthinking.Yes, Yan Liang showing up at the school…
I don't think that calling other people dumb will prove you are right. It's all about what you want to believe, isn't it? ;p

Wasn't expecting this to turn out so good. A solid drama with a consistent plot that goes straight from the beginning to the end without stumbling. You'll understand at the end the meaning behind the title! And loved Esumi Makiko's performance as always!

Title Something in the Rain Spoiler
The first half was really good. A genuine love story that kept me smiling and happy during all the episodes. I…
Like:
- Jun Hui on episode 1-8: "I won't go to China, I want to stay with you, even if that means losing my job".
- Jun Hui on episode 9-16: "I want to go to America, come with me" and leaves even if she says no.
- Jin-A on episode 1-8: "I want to stay with you, I will fight!!".
- Jin-A on episode 9-16: does everything the mom says and is willing to dump him in favor of another random guy.

And what about the subplot in the office? It completely went into nothing and didn't develop at all.

The first half was really good. A genuine love story that kept me smiling and happy during all the episodes. I thought I've finally found a drama without melodramatics...
Then the second half happened. The characters completely changed as if they were written by a completely different writer and the story became a mix of exaggerations and nonsense. What she did and what he did didn't make sense at all. I'll still give a 7 because I liked the first half and because I'm a fan of Son Ye Jin, but I'm not happy at all with this drama.

I decided to watch this because I love the theme song from Sally Yeh and I wanted to hear it in the movie. But not only the scene where it was used didn't fit the song at all, but the movie wasn't that memorable at all, and I usually love these Hong Kong movies from the 80-90s. No wonder that it took 30 years to make the sequel... At least Jet Li and Sharla Cheung performances were really good.
Guess I'll watch the classical Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre version from 1986 to get a better understanding of the novel.

Title The Bad Kids Spoiler
THIS IS GENIUS. So so twisted & dark. What the hell did I just watch?!I thought this was a general crime & suspense…
I honestly think that this article is the result of too much overthinking.

Yes, Yan Liang showing up at the school in the end might just be Chao Yang's imagination (not necessarily though), but that's because Chao Yang knows this time he won't see another Yan Liang appearing asking him for help. Now Chao Yang will start a new life. And that was a "goodbye" between the two.

Pu Pu didn't die. There's a dialog between Zhang Dong Sheng and Xu Jing during the credits of episode 9. Zhang Dong Sheng expresses his wish to have a daughter "with big eyes, that looks like a doll", and that's exactly how Pu Pu looks like. We know for sure that at some point Zhang Dong Sheng started to see Pu Pu as a real daughter (think of the scene at McDonald). He wouldn't have let her die.
When Pu Pu fades out and he calls the emergency number he hangs up when the service at the phone asks him the address. Zhang Dong Sheng didn't want to let other people know that the girl was staying at his apartment. We can assume that he brought Pu Pu to the hospital in person (maybe he said that he found the girl somewhere, we don't know, but this is not important anyway).

And Yan Liang's dad giving him the pear is exactly what it seems. The dad knows he will stay in that facility forever and that Yan Liang has to go on with his life. That's why Yan Liang decides to separate there, because he also wants to start a new life. The meaning of the pear is exactly "separation".

And no, Chao Yang didn't push Jing Jing. You can clearly see in episode 3 at minute 9:36 that she fell off by herself with Chao Yang running toward the window when she had already fell off.

I think the love story slowed it down a bit, I would have preferred it to be a full horror/psychological/survival story. But anyway really good drama.

GREAT ARTICLE! I really miss the older dramas, made with full blown passion. Such as A Dream of Red Mansions (1987),…
I totally agree. I've recently watched Legend of the Condor Heroes and Return of the Condor Heroes (1983-84 HK's version) and I was impressed by seeing that actors kungfu movements were real. You can clearly see they went through some training in order to shoot those fighting scenes. And their acting and charisma was amazing. You can't find these in modern dramas (not saying that EVERY modern drama is bad, for example I think that The Longest Day in Chang'an is an absolute masterpiece).
