I like the book so I was expecting the drama version. But they changed the whole thing. Saw the first episode, and from the beginning the character of the FL is different. Disappointed but not surprised.
So I was reading a lot of theories about Wan Wan/Guan Shan and Chu Yue/Xue Yao. Who is the storyteller and who is in the story. Why Chu Yue suddenly wake up at the edge of the cliff? There is this one clip that I like.

If you see from the clip, it started from the 1st episode. It’s actually Guan Shan telling story. Wan Wan is just sleeping at the side. She never wakes up. Guan Shan is the storyteller. The ending is sad though. Guan Shan said this, “ If one day, I am old and can’t walk anymore, that is to say I’m dead. Then if you suddenly wake up and can’t find me, how to do?” He then carried Wan Wan to the edge of the cliff.
So I've just watched the epilogue. 30+ minutes and our main couple is in the first half. Chu Yue woke up at the edge of the cliff. They have a son who they sent to Xing Chen to be take care of. Xing Chen is now the emperor. Xue Yao and Chu Yue travelled around the country and having fun without their kid. Xue Yao acting so cute towards Chu Yue is just so adorable.
Su Nan Nan and Luo Ji ended together. Su Nan Nan's maid ended up with Na Xi's brother. Na Xi and Ning Wang got married and she is pregnant.
It is sweet ending for our main couple and the rest. Definitely give closure to this story. Gosh, I just love ZYC. His 神仙落泪 acting is just love!!!
For a web drama, they really hit all the sweet spot for me. Good acting (this is RARE in web drama, like seriously rare), great looks, costumes, set. I don't know if any of you noticed all the small details in their acting, the small gestures & 虎狼之词. Even the soundtracks and lyrics are great and consistent with the drama story. It's 1/2 sweet, 1/2 sad but the most important it's HE.
I am having drama withdrawal now. Going to rewatch everything from ep1.
Watched this for ZYC and he definitely delivers. Hu Yi Xuan is a new discovery for me. She acted well and her smile is super sweet. Despite how mgtv managed to enrage the drama viewers, please give this drama a chance. This is not a high budget drama but they spent their $ wisely. The set and costumes are gorgeous. Even ZYC said he had the most costumes compared with his other series.
I feel that this drama is the actual 'black horse' drama of the season. No promo, no fuss, no A list actors, no buying weibo hot search, no fake fans but look how this series performed. It performed well beyond what mgtv expected and that's why mgtv decided to squeezed us loyal drama fans more $$$. Fans were so mad, mgtv closed their comment section. Hahahaha.
