I like that they didn't go with the narrative of " I can't believe I fell in love with a boy" but rather " I fell…
There should be a dilemma. We don't live in a post sexual orientation world, and you don't just fall in love with whomever regardless of sex. Lately a lot of Thai bl's have been doing this and I can't say am a fan.
This is another home run for Japan bl. It's not TOO romance heavy and don't expect any pda, but it's so sweet and full of humor that it doesn't really suffer too much from it. I never thought I'd see Bara in bl but here we are lol.
While I do not believe a human should beat another human, I do think you are judging the situation through your…
Nicely put, totally agree. It made me appreciate Xun An's resiliance and his commitment to Bai Lang really. We don't have to be happy about it or subscribe to it, just try and get in the character's shoes and understand why they did what they did.
1. Watch it on Viki, the subs on gagaoolala don't give this show's justice. 2. I for one really appreciated this adult little love story. It was the right balance of sweet and corny and serious and introspective. It's very much centered around the two lead's relationship, so much so that I read some people complaints about the crumbs left for the side couples. I thought they were fine, they wrapped them up a bit abruptly but in a satisfying enough way. It's smart, romantic, funny, it doesnt spell out everything and doesnt rely entirely on gerne tropes. One of the years best in the genre. 3. the one complain: they didn't use the word gay or mention sexual orientation in the entire show. This seems to be a more and more popular thing lately: portraying this idillic post-sexual orientation, pansexualized society. But then you still use the drama with the dad, that clearly had a big problem with the son being in a relationship with a man. So it's not so idillic after all. Let's call things for what they are, please. Not saying "gay" doesn't help anyone. And not everyone can or will be or desires to be pansexual.
They show it like every parent has right to beat up their child, if there is something they don't like? no remorse,…
Romanticizing it and showing it happens and a son actually painfully dealing with it in a matter that wont break the family apart is different. This was Xun An's decision, he went trough hell to be able to welcome Bai Lang into his family. The remorse and apologizing could have happened off screen, the show was very much focused on the lead's relationship.
This was the most low effort k-bl I've ever watched I think. Usually with the bad ones you can at least expect some production value. Nope. p.s who else clocked they werent even together for most of the last scene in the room? lol
Started this with zero expectations but I'm finding myself enjoying each episode more and more. The main romance feels at least somewhat comparable to how a modern gay relationship would start and evolve. It's all very unsophisticated and some side-story elements are trite (the unavoidable fujoshi angle, yawn) but the charm is there. Nice chemistry from the leads.
Uhmm... bottom dynamtic, while there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, isn't that much of an absolute girl-thing.…
The way Rain and Phayu relate to relate to each other, talk to each other and interact phisically with each other is the way a boy and a girl stereotipically would. Rain is smaller, submissive, shy, clingy, weak, feminine. Phayu is bigger, stronger, dominant, powerful, masculine. This is literally boys love basics: they're the archetypal Seme and uke. So no, it's not my opinion. It's a fact.

Oh please dont feed me this "there's no specific way to be a girl or a boy" bull. It is so transparent when the bl bottoms are just basically gender swapped girls or a write in for the (female) author. This has been happening since the dawn of yaoi, and I'll continue pointing it out everytime I see it, thanks.
