On High School Return of a Gangster Jun 16, 2024
The web novel is not the original work but the movie The Dude in Me on which the web novel is based. Nobody complained when the movie was turned into a BL novel so I don't know how this drama can represent homophobia. I can see that people have no understanding about the fact that politics goes beyond sexuality/representation politics. I mean that there are more pressing real world issues like war, poverty, famine, loss of freedom of speech (many thanks to wokeists mainly), lack of democracy in many countries, total lack of women's and gay rights in many countries. And amidst all of this, this particular drama and this particular discussion site is where they choose to raise their swords and fight. I think it's just because humans do need to fight for something to lead meaningful lives, but it's sad that nobody really in real life in most of the countries is against gay rights, same sex marriages, it's all become normal. New Viki offerings are 50 % BL and BL dramas are recommended to everyone which means it's pretty mainstream and Viki is not some dodgy porn site if we're totally honest. (I wish people were, but, as I said they need the fight).

I've seen a few discourse on how the gangsters are too soft, I mean sure they are but as someone already pointed…
And they are soft also in The Dude in Me, the original work on which the novel is based. This drama is based on the novel but the novel is based in the movie which is very humorous indeed.

I'm not surprised it's ranking so well. I've not caught up with all the aired episodes yet, but it's a great premise,…

On The Player 2: Master of Swindlers Jun 16, 2024
I dropped S1 on ep 4, the same thing happening now, I'm not really enjoying Player 2. S2 is very similar to S1. Kinda boring, draggy and Oh Yeon Seo's acting (like a deer in headlights) doesn't help. If like me you like Song Seung Heon, Black is a way more intense, funny and suspenseful drama. Dinner Mate is also a good underrated philosophical drama. SSH has had too few lead roles, this is why I sincerily tried to watch and like Player.
On My Military Valentine Jun 16, 2024
Best romcom by far of the ones that started this June, imo. Added elements of action, suspense and politics. I'm very partial towards Nam Gyu Ri, she's fantastic in this. I've also been waiting Min Seok to have a romantic ML role again, and he's really serving! I'm also partial towards unification. Such a great idea to put a romcom in this context. If like me you can't turn your brain off completely (a nod towards the cringiest of cringe aka Dreaming of...) this is the romcom for you. I'm also like My Sweet Mobster, but that one had filler moments in the 1st ep already. My Military Valentine is fast paced with no filler characters or moments.

now it stands at 8.5/10 from 8,880 users.I will check again in the next week or next month.
I guess our Chun Woo Hee will get named the queen of sleeper hits - she's in Be Melodramatic. Atypical Family is 9.5. for me.

The last time a comment section got this toxic was when saudis got angry about King The Land showing a muslim prince drinking and flirting. They were all going to kill the actor. Religious zealots and it's not that Saudi Arabia has any women's rights. I'm finding out that being gay is not about sexual orientation but about woke religion. When wokeism becomes a religion, you should understand you've been played. Nobody has a fear of people having a sexual orientation, unless he or she is a pedo. Wokeism is a religion replacing religion. Misguided just like the muslims zealously defending Saudi princes who do in fact womanize and drink when they are abroad. Just note that you can't have Viki without constantly being recommended (frankly, pushed), BL dramas, it's 50% BL content.

Yoon Chanyoung is so good in this gosh I love him. I'm curious tho, does the original work has the same story?…
The original work is the movie The Dude In Me. Novel is an expansion and adaptation of it. Since original work is not BL, the racket is ridiculous: nobody got angry about the original work (movie) getting adapted and now it's suddenly the biggest crime ever that the script based on the novel got adapted. Lots of people sitting at home just waiting to get offended although 50 % of new Viki dramas are BL.

He was a cheery assistant to CEO male lead in the romcom Lie to Me. That was a long time ago though (2011). In…
He was damn scary in Bring It On Ghost. I get flashbacks to that role when I see him. The bigger downside in typecasting is that it is too easy to guess who is the villain. Same thing with Jung Woong In.

Something about GiDoong being the antagonist doesn't sit right with me...I've seen him in more than 15 dramas…
My thoughts exactly. I was thinking oh no, he's the loyal friend and this is just not right. Hope this will be his one and only villain role.

Kwon Yool as a rule is the main villain so I'd place my bets on him being the Doctor. It would actually be more exciting if Heo Joo Song was the Doctor. The detective colleague of JJK is aware and checked that JJK is on the drug and is watching him in order to have his back. JJK is getting paranoid due to the drug and therefore suspects the detective. The 2 main villains Park Tae Jin and Won Jong Soo will get into a war with each other.
