there's no need to lower it as it's more than fair... if S2 first part was as good as S1 then the rating would…
But it's true. Female users are the majority here and tend to give higher scores than male users. I explained it better in a recent comment. Men and women are equal in certain ways (believe me, I am a supporter of feminist causes) but I am not stupid to think that they are equal in everything. The physiology of the body itself is different and so are aspects of the functioning of the mind. This is not sexism. This is just looking at factors and evidence. And it doesn't mean that one is better than another but that they are different in their own world.

I don't feel that, especially with dramas. I feel that women are more corporatist with things they commonly like more. I watch anime, western series and I go to sites like MyAnimeList and IMDb, which have a more gender-balanced audience, (or which have a predominantly male audience). A score of 8.5 out of 400 users is practically impossible to occur. 8.5 means that the thing is extremely popular, top of its kind. Ratings above 8 I see in almost every series that comes out here, especially the Korean ones that are translated into English instantly. A rating of 7 is very high on IMDb. Here, it is very low. You may be right in day-to-day matters but when it comes to ratings, women are quite tolerant. Any Korean drama today, even Bad Guys 2 that is pure testosterone will have mostly female viewers. Numerically, women dominate in this area.

I knew that comment would come out.
Is it untrue that most users of the site are women? Is it untrue that women tend to be less hard than men when evaluating something?
Can you honestly prove this is a lie?
If you do an experiment with a group of men and another group of women to evaluate something (like a TV show), it is certain the rating average will be higher in the female group. This is not an insult, its just how the two genders deal with things, view the world. That's how it is. Certainly the whys are explained by psychology and related areas.

The problem is when a work, like a tv series, becomes famous, it gains a "brand", a label, a style that distinguishes it from others. The Stranger label, which made it good, is the intense thriller through cooperation between a prosecutor and a police officer. This season has taken a very different path and this has, in my opinion, misrepresented the series (until now). So the complaint of many, because the "product" Stranger this season is different from the previous one. The same would happen if, for example, the moderate Watcher became an intense thriller in a supposed second season. It's style would be ignored. Anyway, let's see how it ends. But the score so far should be more different.

It is not about proportion. The difference between them should already be reflected in this rating. This happens with other works in IMDb and MAL, for example. The dramas audience is more condescending (I think it is because most of them are female, who tend to be more forgiving in ratings [in general life too]).

S1 (completed) has 8,9 and this 8,7 (at half) by now. 0.2 difference is not fair. Even more so if we consider the total difference in pace between them.
I found the second case (corpse in the plantations) very exaggerated and bizarre. Except above, a great series of research. It is worth the second season.
Seo Dong Jae became the comic relief this season. Very ridiculous and caricature acting.
What moved the previous season was a case of refined murder, with several suspects, theories. In the fourth episode, there was already another murder to tangle everything.
This season seems more political, restrained, and "administrative", similar to Watcher.
If the idea is unknown shows, then a lot of these shouldn't be on the list. Most are very popular. I leave as suggestions Ring - Saishushou, Rasen, Galileo, Gaiji Keisatsu, Zettai Reido, Special Affairs Team TEN, Gap Dong, Children of Nobody.
