I completely understand this. Which is why it’s such a pity that even when she is already surrounded by other women trying to break the barriers, the society’s mindset has already been so deeply ingrained in her that she cannot escape it. I really thought it was possible for her to learn and become a strong independent woman by being around Mudan and the others— seeing examples of other women who doesn’t let the society’s prejudice stop them from being who they are or pursuing what they want. Unfortunately, it just seems like the more she is surrounded by more women pursuing their own things, the more she runs back towards her past.
