That "oldest son" is surely misleading. We will never know which is the truth. But Lang Huan's reaction was also misleading. If Haishi was pregnant at that time, it was too fast! We are not sure whether they consummated days before Haishi sent the mermaid home. It was only a few days! And if she was pregnant that time, then why they consummated again? They must not bcs it will harm the baby. It's not about "FangShi didn't know" but that can only mean she wasn't pregnant. And Haishi didn't show any signs of pregnancy, she even drank wine.
General Zhang? Zhang Chengqian who is also a Jifeng member? Shaozi and Zhang Chengqian are on the same side. That doesn't make sense. I even thought he died but then there he is still alive and perfectly fine 🙄
Some things are left unexplained. They cut 7 eps down. I wonder what happened in that 7 eps. So: 1. What happened to Haishi, Jianming and Lang Huan when they fell off the cliff? 2. Duoluo got kicked from Huku. The end? 🤷♀️ basically he's not even the villain? 😅 3. How did Zhuoying find Zheliu? 4. So is Haishi pregnant or not? If she has a baby wouldn't it be bad given that baby is a Fang. 5. So Jianming lives in Jifeng pavilion, but he can't go outside since he's "dead"? Jifeng squad went back to the pavilion means only them (and Weiyun) know Jianming is alive. 6. Where is Shaozi? He went missing on the last ep. Does he take over the Jifeng squad?
My disappointment is they showed too much flashbacks of Jianming-Haishi. Flashbacks after flashbacks. Also this drama has a lot of kiss scenes, but it's either one sided kiss, unconscious kiss, forced kiss, and finally blurry kiss 😅😅😅

I think they killed off Tilan bcs she's a woman who keeps her promise. She promised to never let the emperor be lonely, that she will be with him in life and death. Even if she survives, she would give the regent to Haishi while she focuses on raising her son. The emperor hasn't write an edict to make her an empress, only for their baby to be the next emperor. The emperor will announce the empress position later when she safely gives birth and healthy again.

For cdrama, I don't know if you have watched these or have any interest watching, but I'm a fan of Chen Yuqi so I watched her dramas: And The Winner is Love, and The Love Lasts Two Minds. Story wise the latter is better, but for chemistry and romance the first one is better. Both have romantic HE 😊

I don't remember the last time I cried like an idiot from watching drama. Journey of Flower, And The Winner is Love, Bridal Mask are examples. I knew this would most likely have a sad ending, but that was unnecessary. If they already made it different from the novel, why not make a happy ending for everyone? The ending is not satisfying. One couple dead, while one couple have to choose duty over love, and it's an open ending as well.
Yeah, this drama has nothing to do with other series, and well worth it.
If you want a happy ending, then no! This has a tragic ending, bittersweet and open ending in the last ep. Ep 46 can be considered as a happy ending, while ep 48 is the alternative ending.

I knew this was gonna come but that was way to tragic! That stupid brother caused all this! Their dying conversation is so heartbreaking. I guess this is why they have the most romantic moments in the drama bcs the writer wanted to kill them off.
