While other drama usually mix idol with accurate styling, such as Royal Rumours, Youthful Glory. Perhaps you are just not used to it, just like how people in new gen aren't used to Qing dynasty styling.

There are 5 new characters, 1 woman, 4 men. The woman most likely is just a maid. There is no Pei Qing and Han Shuxing.

What's wrong with Tigers Sniff the Rose? I like it. I think it symbolizes different meanings:
1. The rose is the power, the tigers (ambitious men) are eyeing for it.
2. The rose is Mu Wanyao, who stands tall, beautiful, thorny, untouchable, yet men desire for her.
3. The rose is Chang'an, the tigers are the barbarians who want to occupy it.
