Finally finished watching this. Personally, I dislike s2. It was boring for me. Although both seasons have a LOT of talking, when watching s1, I couldn't help but being curious and watched next episode. For s2, I had to skip a few eps and even jumped to watch the last ep, then went back to where I was.
In s1, it took me 5 eps and I already had a long list of fav characters. But for s2, until the last eps, there is not one character that I like 😱 I couldn't connect with any of them. Perhaps only the first emperor. I do love the deep brotherhood between Pingzhang and Pingjing. But for others, i.e the subordinates have no personality, felt no different with the sword hanging on their waist. Unlike Fei Liu, Li Gang, Zhen Ping, Wei Zheng, even Xia Chun and Xia Qiu have real personalities.
What I hate the most: the good side is ALWAYS 1-2 steps behind 🤦♀️ they are so dumb, clueless and powerless, that it made the villains gained the upper hand and controlled everything. There is no situation where the good ones actually won and made the villains suffered a total defeat. Also, the empress and her Xun family is full of idiots on different levels. The empress is shortsighted and only cares about her own interests, the PM is an ungrateful and a jealous person, Anru is the most idiot and useless, while Feizhan is slow.
Sometimes I even wondered if Mei Changsu reincarnated as Puyang 😅
I also didn't care about the romance between Pingjing and Lin Xi that I ended up skipping all their scenes.
For me, the story finally picked up from ep 35. Man... took a LONG time! Ep 27 and 37 are the saddest episodes. It took 46 eps to get they realized they have been miscalculated everything 😒
Tbh I hate how her makeup stylist do her makeup. She looks pretty with normal makeup, yet they often give her fairy makeup with all the aegyossal line and glitter. In result, she looks different in every pictures.
Can someone submit a new profile pic for her? I tried to do it few times with different pictures yet they all got rejected in the name of "the current one is better". For God's sake that pic is like 5+ years ago! 🤦♀️
Tbh I highly recommend you to read the novel instead bcos the story is very different from the drama and the novel is sooooo good! The ending is also very different! 😆

Well he wasn't alone when he died. All of his followers were with him. What I dislike: 1. Sudden war plot. 2. Both of his most beloved, Jingyan and Nihuang weren't there. 3. What about the others? Oh watch s2 of course. Lol
Like I said, I wanted a peaceful death for him. Bcos he has fulfilled all his missions and reunited with his loved ones.
They will start filming on April 7. I feel bad for He Yu bcos he has no time to rest before the filming. He goes straight to Hengdian after Speed and Love ends. Meanwhile Meng Ziyi has 1 and half month of rest after she filmed San Xian Mi Hui, although she had a packed schedule on March. I hope they all stay healthy.

Indeed it makes no sense at all when suddenly the story changed on the last eps. That plot was so unnecessary. We all expected he would leave after Jingyan ascended and the Chiyan case is settled. It would be a bittersweet and peaceful ending. I couldn't even cry watching the ending 🙄 only dumbfounded.
Perhaps the writer was preparing for a sequel, so to know what happened to the others, we must watch s2.

The emperor is the most idiot, useless, powerless, has no charisma and majestic aura. More like a plump puppet of the grand princess.

For other characters: You have the evidence, but you don't report it. You have brain, but you don't use it. You have an ally, but you don't cooperate with him.
This emperor really made my blood boil. The Princess murdered countless people and committed other heinous crimes…
Promoted her status, announced to the whole world she sacrificed herself to protect the emperor. What a noble princess, the whole nation must worship her 😴
Totally, highly recommended drama! A must watch! A masterpiece! Especially for those who are looking for: 1. Extremely smart ML who can manipulate things to go on his way. 2. Non romance drama. 3. Unbreakable bonds and friendship. 4. A LOT of good people with only a few villains. 5. Villains get their karma. 6. A long list of likeable characters, and equally exceptional female characters. 7. An emperor that is not dumb. 8. High level of acting!
I can't choose my fav characters! I just love them all! I'm going to watch season 2 🤗

I knew a long time ago this drama is brilliant, however I forgot about it and only recently found it while scrolling through wetv app. I have finished watching it and I totally agree with viewers! It is amazing and brilliantly executed, with top notches acting!

Tbh I watch cdrama for the romance, but NIF does NOT need romance! I'm actually glad that it has no romance. Ni Huang barely appears compared to Qin Banruo and Consort Jing, makes me wonder why her name is right after Hu Ge.
My biggest complains: 1. What was with the last ep???? As if they didn't know what to do with the finale. I was dumbfounded. What about the others? 2. I wanted to know more about Hua Zu. They mentioned it a few times and I thought they would be a formidable enemy before the finale, but nope. It was swept under the rug. 3. I'm so confused with the princess consort. She is shown suspicious, but that's all.
