The culture holds people accountable for what the West would consider as "old fashion" morals. Children often suffer for the bad things their parents do. In these dramas, it blows me away that loan sharks go after extended family members to repay money a relative owes and they reluctantly, but willingly, accept the debt as their obligation to repay. In this case, I guess they are trying to make people think twice before committing whatever so their family will not suffer.
