Someone on here gifted me a KOCOWA subscription and I started to watch this drama because I enjoy these 50+ episode soap opera style shows. I am halfway through, episode 50 and so far this could possibly be one of the better melo dramas I've seen thus far. However, I could have sworn there was another series that used this TV set before (the main home). Where there were also a bunch of siblings living under the same house and went to the rooftop to do their 'sibling' meetings.
I love Lee Cho Hee's acting in this series. She is adorable with her aloof and charismatic attitude. I hope she can land more future main roles for her career but I do tend to enjoy her more as the supporting actress in shows. Then the older brother's role by Oh Dae Hwan, is also excellent. Ultimately, (imo) all of the characters in this show are enjoyable to watch. They all seem to synergize well with how the show flows.
Highly recommend this series for anyone else that enjoys the melodrama types.
This randomly showed up on a streaming site I use and I enjoy jail themed drama/movies, so decided to watch the trailer first and looked good enough to give it a shot.
Solid movie for it's time, I gave it a 8.0 rating. Would have given it a higher rating but the ending I felt was out of nowhere or gave the impression there would be a second film. If you enjoy true grit, thriller, borderline yakuza themed shows. This movie is for you.
Could not find this movie but only looked for about ten minutes, will try more later. Did manage to find a comment from a user who saw the movie though:
"The cinematography is okay as the grayish-cool color tone acutely emphasizes the tense atmosphere of the main characters' killer-finding journey, especially in a howling winter. The chasing scene is okay. Overall, this is a story of a hate crime, which detailed explores the racial tension between China and the U.S., and how the father's affection for his daughter led him to manhunt the killer by himself in a foreign country. The tense atmosphere has been delivered accurately through this film. But all of the actors' performances except Xu are kind of bad. And the screenplay is okay but a few lines are pretty horrible."
I only started this TV series because the websites I usually use kept shoving the poster in my face, for weeks. I started the show about five days ago and I am already up to episode 31. I am very glad I started this show because it has kept me entertained. I usually lose interest in most series and/or it's just hard to finish shows these days.
The only thing which concerns me is being at episode 31, with only four episodes left. I hope they don't rush the ending because I feel as if there is SO MUCH still going on that if the show truly ends in four more episodes. There has to be a season two with a few things that are left open but knowing this is based off a single book novel. Is why it raises my concerns things will either get rushed or just basically end. Leaving you confused. However, so far episode 1-31 at least in my opinion is a solid 9.5
She stood out for me in 'The Litchi Road' with her exotic look and was shocked to see that she's 35 with such few roles.....
After reading a comment below about "Na Er Na Xi scandal", first I never believe the internet or headlines, tweets, etc. unless I can see some solid proof and/or evidence. Based on how easy it is to ruin someone's life/career over internet lies or fake images, etc. It would not surprise me if this 'scandal' is being spearheaded by someone else to make her look bad.
If I had to guess based on what I know about global politics. There are tensions between inner Mongolia and mainland China. I would wager she is stuck in the middle of a political war and is being targeted by the Mongolian parties due to her role in 'The Litchi Road' as a Hu merchant. I hope the stress from the fake news and crazy fans doesn't cause her to do anything to herself.
PS: I ran several ai bots in several languages to provide me with any hard evidence and this is what they all basically suggested as of me writing this comment: "It's crucial to remember that these are allegations and an investigation is ongoing. No final verdict has been reached regarding Na Er Na Xi's involvement in any misconduct."
These three drama's are based on Chinese historical fiction writer Eryue He's novels. The reason why 'Yongzheng Dynasty' was produced first, is because of how Eryue He perceived Yongzheng. Possibly changing the traditional accounts from being ruthless to a reform-minded ruler. Making his second book the more popular out of the three. The TV series became such a hit with the mainland audience, they immediately started working on part 1 and part 3 of the series.
Took me an hour to finally find this drama with english subs because all of the og drama sites have been shut down. Luckily found some random one with this drama intact and high quality. I am downloading the episodes before sharing the link because it seems like CCTV has been making sure this drama is ONLY on their platform (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vG1FT9qaVKQ) but it's raw without subs.
The only reason why I wanted to watch this drama was how it has decent rating [litv.tv 8.0] [douban 7.3] [iqiyi 7.4] via Chinese/mainland rating sites. Plus I am a sucker for historical fiction dramas that tend to stick close to the facts because I enjoy learning about the history of other cultures. 📖🧠👍
This kind of reminds me of a Joseon Dynasty 'Goblin' mixed together with 'The Fiery Priest' (unless I am mixing up a different shaman KDRAMA). Either case so far, so good. Every episode has me wanting to watch the next one. Only up to episode five, curious to see if this drama will keep my ADHD hooked or will I lose interest.
Lately I have been watching more JDRAMA's again and this one is a nice slow burn. I enjoy the slice of life dry Japanese humor and how they incorporated it into a "sci-fi" storyline. If you're thinking that it has CGI aliens and flying saucers because of the poster and synopsis, don't fret because it's the complete opposite and give the first or second episode a try to see if your cup of tea.
I am on episode 20 but episode 15 is such a solid episode. If you enjoy anime, it's where after Goku, Naruto, Gon, etc. is always training and you FINALLY get a glimpse at how it has paid off. Overall all though, everything about this drama I find solid. It has great fight scenes (could have more, imo), romance, comedy, crime, mystery, etc.
The only thing that is still bothering me is how the storyline will play into what happened at the very beginning of the first episode. Per the synopsis (so not a spoiler), the main character gets transported to a fictional Chinese dynasty. Why, lol? So far there is zero logical explanation other than the author using this trope/niche to be included as a keyword or genre for the series. I hope this will eventually get addressed with a good explanation because it would be sad to see such an amazing storyline get ruined just because the author felt like more people would enjoy the series if people thought it was an Isekai genre.
