this is like not even supposed to be THAT big of a deal that were fighting eo over this, literally the only thing that pissed me off is the characters that keep being excused its as simple as that. if a show includes a scene like this ppl will react, but calling ppl "woke" for reacting to smth pretty sensitive is crazy. i get that the story is interesting and not fluff, i get that itd be boring if every single plot was the same, but even the show itself depicted it as smth problematic so im just hoping they continue to depict it as problematic. just that. (i do realise that i mightve come off a bit strong in the original comment but i alr said that? ppl are emotional and its natural like dang)

thats exactly what im trying to say though? had it been a straight story we would just move on with our lives while hating the characters, but because homosexuality has ALWAYS struggled with hatred, weve had to be on our tiptoes since ages ago. i personally would not excuse a straight "dark" character getting to go on with their life even in the fictional story, but to the general public its normal because its not tied to their community and, their behavior is just seen as a mental illness/ personality issue or wtv tf it is that is wrong with them. and honestly most of the times i dont see a character not being punished for their behavior in straight media bcs ik the audience is always out to get them too, but ive seen a lot of low budget/high budget bls casually ignore it and it becomes a fantasy of sorts so....
i hope u realise im literally on the same team as u as far as homosexuality is concerned cus why tf would i be consuming queer media anyway, or why tf would i be queer myself, im just saying i hope we stop "understanding" these characters in queer media so that it doesnt become the norm which plays a part in people seeing it as the norm thus leading to homophobia. i know that this character has had issues, i believe he needs to seek therapy, i understand hes had problems to deal with and a lot went against him, but does all of that really give him a pass for what he did? mmmmmmmm no

also, i just want to say that i had just finished watching the ep and those were my initial thoughts and i simply wanted to voice them out because it genuinely disgusted me. i do understand the plot and progression of a twisted out of the norm story, but with these characters being repeatedly forgiven it just gets irritating. they piss me off because even tho its fictional, its being normalised in media, and honestly isnt media art, and isnt art an imitation of real life? ive been AROUND people who have had the image of same sex love being "perverted" and thus disgusting (even though literally most of us have those desires), but they tie it to forcible and non consensual sex because media like this (or the ones which let these characters off the hook) and the audience "understanding" the characters and saying "they could never make me hate xyz" normalises it which becomes a stereotype and gives way for more homophobia. idk how the story will progress but these are just my thoughts, u dont have to agree with them but i hope you get my point.

honestly i dont know how supporting the character is not an implication of not having a conscience. he did something insanely unforgivable, the show portrayed it like that, the audience is raging out over it, all good. but i dont think if the "dark fictional narrative" will continue to give him a happy ending (which is the case in most of these toxic bls), is fair. i understand that its fictional, but just as we get hyped up and giggly over sweet heart fluttering scenes and appreciate it, we're free to identify the red flags and make out that its problematic of ppl who are supporting it. im well aware everyone has a different point of view and im literally not here to have debates, this place is for me to say what i think abt the show and voice my perspective and ik its literally not even that deep but i guess i was just triggered. im sorry but i hope you can understand my point too

i understand everything you are saying, im sorry if what i said came accross that way. but ive been brought up in an environment where homophobia is insanely prevalant, mainly due to religious reasons. so when i did my research and asked around why same sex love was so disliked, i was told the very root cause of it, which was men raping other men during the times of war. you dont have to agree with me on this, these are just my beliefs ofcourse, but what i meant was excusing this behavior and not giving the said character perfect consequences for it just feed into the STEREOTYPE of part of the reason why homophobia exists.
and oh i very well understand what homophobia is, im not just a fujoshi who lives on internet and bases their opinions on twitter threads or instagram reels, im well aware of what im saying

there is no excusing SA, he did what he did and idfc what yalls perspective is on lu feng anymore. i was rooting for him but this is just not it, when the characters pull this shit and then the story gives them a happy ending, its really frustrating. even tho this is fictional, he should NOT have the right to be forgiven. i love when characers are flawed but SA is where we ALL should draw the line. the ppl saying that this isnt a big deal and that we're overreacting, clearly dont have a conscience, sa is sa whether its a man or a woman and it is NOT okay. this is actually a reason for homophobia bcs ppl excuse behavior like this which is clearly abnormal so others start generalising it and make it a stereotype. ill be really pissed if lu feng doesnt suffer.

im a sucker for intimacy portrayal without the characters having to kiss/hug. id also be fine with it being platonic (i didnt really see any promo and if there were lgbtq+ tags then thats def a lil misleading ig) but this show did a great job at keeping it ambiguous which i like because it makes you focus on the plot and characters just a bit more (pls dont come for me). ANYWAY I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
