In the beginning of the drama, it's said that she's known as the #1 "talented lady" of her time in town. With a title such as "talented lady", it's known that the bestowed person is skilled in 4 arts: music, chess, literature, arts/painting. Thus, it's not really needed for the drama to go in details how she gets to this knowledgeable level to be known in town as "talented lady", just that she is truly skilled.
She's not hiding it because she HERSELF doesn't even realize she's acting like a jealous gf nor catch on that the emotion is jealousy. Just like he doesn't know why he was explaining himself to her about Wu Lan.
