It's because in actuality he's been controlling his emotions and holding everything in all these years, living his life with a facade. When his mom passed, he broke down and didn't feel like he should be pretending anymore.

The implying part was it when he said "there's no such thing as accident?" I don't remember or could have missed it if he made more explicit statements about FYS killing his mom.

Sorry, I don't feel bad for him at all because if he really did what he did, he's a bad seed. After so many years having a great brotherly relationship with FYS, he could just switch that off and start mistreating him? Just not a nice person overall if that's the case. Not to mention how he's taking advantage of GRR? I hope he still has redeeming qualities as we watch the rest of the show.

Zhu Jiu talking to FYS about what his mom had done is so satisfying to watch. It took them so much to finally get together. So it's nice that she's not giving in so easily because of his mom and that them being together are their business, not the mom's.

Mother is definitely awful. Brother is passive-aggressive and doesn't have any positive traits other than maybe caring for his mom. If he's doing what I think your statement is saying about next episode, then he's truly rotten as I said.

I'm so glad FYS is not 100% mama's boy. Him standing up to his controlling mom in the hospital is so awesome. He puts his foot down and sets explicit boundaries regarding Zhu Jiu and her important place in his life.

I don't think the brother knew about that guy beating up YuShen. The brother probably only told his "spy/helper" to not let YuShen returns to Shanghai, but not to beat him up like that. The helper made the decision to enlist that rapist to cause problems to the couple. If the brother really did intentionally had someone beat YuShen up like that, he's really rotten.

Side characters are fine in drama. Just that these side characters are not engaging at all, at least, to me.

Yes, the leads are carrying the show.

Not gonna lie, I really would have dropped this drama if Cheng Yi wasn't in it. Something about the drama just doesn't give that "oommphhh" satisfying feeling; maybe it's too much focus on the brother and the mom. I guess I'll stay a little bit longer just to see how my prince battles it out with Xi Zhou, saves the world, and wins.
