I love MZH's lotus pastry storyline. Such well written comedy skit. First Prince was so delighted to be gifted with MZH's delicious homemade lotus pastry that it even made Lord Ding's jealous. Unbeknownst to the prince until shortly after that everyone got the same lotus pastry from MZH except Lord Ding who was gifted something uniquely his. Overall, the TongXin festival was a great view. Ahhh...much was revealed during this festival.😁
For those complaining or wondering why Lord Ding acted like an old man when he was supposed to be 30 yo, stiff without any facial expressions, and uninteresting, it's because he was on the verge of dying. He literally had a foot in the grave. His only reason to remain alive was to seek justice for the 30K dead soldiers by solving the case since his trusted men pleaded to him to stay alive. He was living for them, not for himself. Physically strained and consciously weighed down, there was no joy in his life and nothing to smile about prior to MZH's appearance. FSF is doing a wonderful job as Lord Ding, talking and walking slowly with a non-expressive face.
Zhi Jian always running into Lord Ding and MZH's private moments are now also running into his brother and Juli's lovey-dovey's moment. It's hilarious!🤪
Can someone tell me why 1st Prince was not rewarded by the Emperor?
The Emperor explained the reason personally to the 1st Prince. This was toward the end of ep 20. It's because it's the Prince's duty and responsibility, thus there shouldn't be a reward for doing something that he should do as a Prince. The Emperor is alluding to the 1st Prince about him being a future emperor.
A lot of the Chinese adaptions don't stick 100% to the age of the characters in historical Chinese time when it was the norm for women/girls at the tender age of 14 to be married and have children. Drama adaptions are revised to fit today's societal norms and changes, and tolerance; otherwise 90% of the Chinese historical dramas FL’s would be performed by 14-16yo teenagers and the series would only get a small percentage of viewers.
Having said that, I’m still struggling to understand what is the major issue at heart. In the novel, FL was 18 and ML was 30 (12 years apart). No big deal and I wouldn’t categorize this as old man teenager romance. In real life, FSF is 44 and Jing Tian is 35 (9 years apart). Also not a big deal by today’s standard. So, perhaps the conundrum is a 44 y.o. FSF playing the role of a 30 years ML (14 years diff) and 35 JT playing an 18 y.o. FL (17 years diff)?
I understand everyone has their preferences and this series may not be to your liking because the age thing is off-putting. The lead performances are rather amazing. Most viewers would rather have older and experienced performers for the roles so that we get a high quality drama than some young bucks and damsels ruining a beautiful and entertaining story, which is sad to say, I have witnessed many times before in Cdrama world.
A good storyteller always has the unexpected to keep the audience interested. Nice to see this as its been underwhelming…
I try not to read the novel or original work while watching the drama adaptation because it has ruined my viewing experience before. Their relationship is truly very mature and beautiful. I saw some previews and are even more in love with this couple and Lord Ding’s character in how he’s respecting her need for independence and individualism.
guys what should i doooo😭today that we have no new episode feels like having a hangover.. I guess I'm addicted…
My solution?...(a) Fast forward watch When I fly Towards You to sample more of Zhou Yi Ran's talent; (b) eat all the food I like before I visit the gym; (c) do my nails in prep of hanging out with my girlfriends tomorrow. 🤪 You should do something that brings you joy, too!!!!
about to start the first episode. i’m excited after seeing all of the comments
If you like smart, independent, sensible, compassionate female lead, you will love this one. I really enjoy this series and it's easily one of my top favorites this year. Have a great watch!😀
Ageism is a b*tch and discrimination is real. Truth is age gap is not the main reason most of the time. I don't see as many people complaining about age gap when the leads are younger actors/actresses with a 10 years gap. This only become a problem when the leads are older in real life.
….the outro scenes, I spotted Princess Roujia 🤔she’s walking towards the throne and sit on it in her regal…
I don't think she will be the empress later on. We are already 18 episodes which is half way done. It's possible that she wants the throne but at the way the show is presented, I just don't see it viable. She doesn't have court support, backup people ,or military power, so it would be difficult to execute even a coup. The only advantage she has that I can see is the love and support of the citizens.
What I also love was Lord Ding smiling when he overheard MZH's comment about having seen him without clothes.😁
"You even brought her pork knuckle?!" Best gift ever!!!!🤪😂
