The first episode has reached a million views!! Good job everyone. Next step is to make sure it gets a spot in the top ten Thai dramas on MDL so we can spread the word. Let’s secure a GL-filled future 😌😌😌😌
Because FreenBecky’s ship started in Secret Crush on You, which the two BL actors were lead in. And the event…
yeah I figured it would be someting like that to either promote a new or old project. that's a cute shoutout I guess, just really left me puzzled for a hot sec there lol
Yes but if the audio is good or not, should not really depend on wether it's a GL. It might be partly a budget issue, they probably did not have the best mics on set, but as I said, I think in this case it's poorly done editing . I can still enjoy this show for what it is, but I am also willing to critique it if there are mistakes along the way. There's no need to pretend it's perfect.
Ok finished the first episode, everything in my initial impression still holds up. The dialogue is really clumsy (very expository) but I think it’s kinda charming in its own very weird way. This show has gotta hold back when it comes to the dutch angles. Like literally every third shot or something is tilted and it very rarely feels right. Audio, as mentioned, is a problem. Acting is okay so far, a bit awkward at parts but I suck at evaluating performances when they’re in a foreign language. I am actually really enjoying the plot, it’s the cheesy premise I was hoping for. All in all I am happy that GAP doesn’t seem to take itself too seriously and is willing to deliver the full Thai romance experience with all its tropes and quirks. I am excited to see where this show goes.
the audio quality is driving me nuts. is that normal for thai dramas? there are scenes where it's fine and there are scenes where it sounds like something went terribly wrong in post-production while filtering out the background noise and echo
I really want this show to make it into the top airing Thai dramas on MDL regardless of its quality just to get more people aware of and excited about GL ._.
Welp making us wait once again is certainly an interesting marketing choice. That being said, what do we think so far? I think the needlessly expository dialogue has its unintentional charm (Mons friend casually mentioning her entire backstory mid-conversation) and the show sure loves its dutch-angles. I am not living for the transphobic undertones but uhhh c'est la vie I guess. I probably can't hold South-East Asia to the same standard as western shows when it comes to political correctness but I really could have done without it. I also think the audio mixing of Mons internal monologue is... not good, something went wrong there. Other than that, this is kinda entertaining in its own way if you meet it halfway and take it for what it's trying to be, which is a lesbian version of BL, a genre not necessarily known for artistic or particularly valuable productions but more like sugary-sweet guilty-pleasure (don't come for me BL-stans, I loved ITSAY). I admittedly don't watch a lot of Thai dramas so I am not used to the customs they bring but so far I am having a lot of fun. I think I will find joy in this even if this show ends up being unbearably cheesy and over-the-top, simply because it's nice to be represented for once and who doesn't love a show centered around cute girls.

I mean no hate, they seem like two charming guys but why let them start a song just to cut it off ten seconds later lmao
