I want to enjoy the romance so bad, but every time he still hasn't broken up with his gf I'm like -_-
SAME. It's ridiculous. Just because he can't have her he doesn't want to break up with his gf (who he had already broken up with btw) JUST IN CASE? That's messed up.
I understand what you're saying, but I also think that's just the way his character is meant to be/is written (and I think it's a comfort zone for the actor, since other roles I've seen him in are somewhat similar). It's the more introverted/quiet but still fiercely in love soft boy kind of ML. It kind of reminds me of Cha Eun Woo in True Beauty (although because of the more comedic tone of that show, he's able to show other sides of himself). Given what Doha has been through, being more withdrawn/not so loud with his emotions makes total sense (especially after that ex gf + all the guilt and being forced to live as basically a shut-in for most of his life).
That being said, I think they could have done more by giving us more emotionally poignant scenes, or softer/heart fluttering moments between the leads to really make the romance hit hard because his form of romance is not as in your face as most dramas often are.
I will say, I think this ML will do a fantastic job (clearly I adore him, he's my profile picture lol). He literally lights up the screen and is so very charismatic! I've loved him in every role I've seen him in, and am so glad he's getting more ML roles!
Ok but plot twist, what if he drank the love potion yes, which may have helped surface certain emotions but then when she did the curing spell at the villa, all of his curses/spells, including the love potion spell, were reversed? And at first he felt guilty because he was feeling things for her, but now he's able to blame it on the potion and maybe be a lot less reserved than he normally would be. Especially if she's "his destined" or whatever. So they were meant to meet and fall in love, but no curse or spell is making it happen, it's just they were meant to be.
(Alternatively, what if it's a love spell that encourages you/pushes you to pursue the one you love. Think about it, it was implied that the guy she works with who was terrible to her drank it, and instead of being obsessed with her, he's spent hours fighting Ms. Ma's haters. So he's always liked her, he drank the potion, now it's making him act on those feelings. Maybe the SML truly liked the FL but because of a bad family background (the whole "being a cold person" thing) he figured rejecting her would be better, but with the potion, he's considering pursuing her. The other guy who MAY have drank her potion spent their lunch talking about the love of his life who passed away.)
IDK THEORIES OKAY.
Idk but episode four was /hilarious/. I also really hope the SML didn't drink the love spell drink and is actually starting to fall for her (I will say, it will suck if he truly likes her because, obviously, he's the SML and I actually really like him already.)
Also also, Rowoon's ex and the FL's story is probably a lot more complicated than we were made to believe. I bet you she did something really really terrible and the FL probably didn't even know/willingly take away her ex bf in high school. Whatever it is, I hope the ML eventually apologizes for the way he handled their drama because it was truly none of his business and he really didn't have all the context. I was genuinely so upset on her behalf for the way he spoke to her after that.
True Beauty truly wrecked me like that moment in the stairwell? SALT IN MY WOUNDS LIKE I DIDN’T NEED TO SEE…
I've heard some people were super super happy with the way it happened and then others were SO UPSET. I really hope I'm in the category that somehow ends up happy but I don't know. I will say, unlike 99.999% of the population I was actually happy with Love Alarm (I know, don't come at me please!) so MAYBE there's still hope that I won't be in pain this time too! It's definitely on my to watch list though.

I agree! From what I've been told (and I haven't read the manhwa) Joogyung and Han Seojun at least get to date (though idk how that ends?) and I WISH he had SOME emotions reciprocated. Like the moment when he does that final big hug I was like GIRL JUST GIVE HIM A HUG? Tragic. I do wish she didn't take him for granted because he did /so so much/ but I also think she was just dumb lol. I also wished there was more emotions on her side so the triangle wasn't completely one-sided on his end but maybe that would have hurt more? I'm not sure.
I have only felt SL syndrome twice... 1st in My Love From the Star with Park Hae Jin's character and in Extraordinary…
I haven't seen My Love From the Star yet (I know, it's so beloved but I'm always scared to watch older shows so many years later because some just don't ... age well BUT I STILL PLAN ON WATCHING) but I feel you with Extraordinary You. I definitely felt for him and appreciated how much growth his character had and I really really wanted him to be happy as well (but there was just so much bad blood/poor plotlines from the manhwa between him and the FL that I couldn't ship them).
I also 100000% agree with Seo Yul, you worded it perfectly, he has my sympathies (and boy did some of the scenes with him being sadly in love with her HURT) but I loooved the leads together. As for True Beauty, I can't agree. True Beauty wrecked me. I have a whole explanation as to why on my personal SML Syndrome list (linked above) but I at least really liked the ML. The worst case of SML Syndrome is when the ML is absolute garbage and the FL can't realize what she has in the SML (I'm not upset about any specific dramas like Boys Over Flowers or anything idk what you're talking about)
I'm considering watching this because it sounds super interesting but am waiting on the final few episodes to come out and hear everyone's thoughts. Please when you finish, let me know if you think it's worth watching with as few spoilers as possible.
Y'all are really out here putting Extraordinary You on this list AND IT HURTS. Yeah I felt bad for the SML towards the middle-ish end but THE ML WAS SO PRECIOUS.
Is it worth the watch? I love Lee do hyun and looking for his other dramas but started ep 1 and it was too similar…
It is absolutely worth the watch. It does offer something different, it goes a lot deeper and delves a lot more into the beauty of family and its different bonds. Also the weird storyline with the daughter in the movie does not exist at all in the show, instead it is much better. I adored it and it made me feel a lot of emotions so I'd highly recommend!
I have actually been missing it... I see a lot more pizza ppl these days, the last time I saw Subway (in a drama)…
IT FELT SO OUT OF TONE in K2 you're absolutely right I forgot about that one! It was terribly obvious. Another two that just came to mind is While You Were Sleeping and Romance is a Bonus Book (two of my favs, coincidentally both of them have Lee Jong Suk as the ML). Lawless Lawyer was really good, I just finished it a few days ago (I adore both leads so that helped). Unrelated to Subway but Nevertheless also had insane PPL for Dyson and Charlotte Tilbury.

(I have yet to watch Reply 1988 but I’m scared)
Thank you in advance!
