i really wish productions would stop having scenes of people talking with their mouths full & smacking. I have…
you didn't miss much. She was basically raving and insisting they find her gold.

Light or heavy the corruption? Comedy in here?
Lots of corruption. Lots of comedy. I can't remember the last time I've laughed out loud watching something but I've done so at least three times with this. It's not purely comedy though, it's quite intense at times and has an interesting plot.

Yeah it's def more on the serious side! I understand what you're saying bc rom coms are really not up my alley.…
Haha thank you for understanding. My trouble is I enjoy the more serious tones/vibes but then I can't always handle a tragedy (I only have so many tears! I can't handle it!) so it's a constant struggle. Though sometimes I really am just in the mood for a good tragedy to rip my heart out.

i dont think one can easily classify this drama by dividing it into lighter and heavier tones because up until…
That makes a lot of sense and makes me definitely intrigued. I don't mind if there's both, I just don't find myself gravitating to PURELY lighthearted/cutesy tones unless it's a modern/youth drama. This sounds like something I'd really enjoy (and I appreciate the LLTG example) and will add to my list. Thank you!!

they manage to balance lighthearted and heavy plot, early episodes we can see the growth of the FL and her family…
Thank you so much! That sounds right up my alley. I don't mind if there is lightheartedness within the plot but I tend to prefer a slightly more serious overall tone if that makes sense. I'm adding this to my to watch list and will hopefully start it once a good chunk is out and I can binge!

Thank you!!

Is this more lighthearted or heavier? I tend to enjoy the slightly more serious (though with the occasional lighter moments) tone of these kinds of dramas and would love recommendations as well as thoughts on how well this fits that!

im scared that this is like hometown cha cha cha, could anyone confirm this? because that showwww took me a longggggggggggg…
I didn't hate Hometown Cha Cha Cha but I didn't really like it either. The comparisons between the two shows begin and end with the setting (and I guess the FL coming from Seoul to a smaller town, but technically the FL here is returning to her actual hometown so it's different, and at no point do I feel like she's snobby towards the small town the way HCCC FL was).

I can confirm that they're not similar. While this one also draws a lot from the setting and the "vibes," if you will, this has an overarching storyline and a cast of characters I adore. I also personally love second-chance romances, which this one is and HCCC wasn't.

Overall, I don't think they're similar. I'm really really enjoying this and would highly recommend, at least up until the episodes that have been released. I have faith in the writers. They've written such a beautiful show so far, I really do think they'll also end it well.

I 1000000% agree with everything you've said. You were able to put into words how I feel about this show when…
You bring up an interesting point about the ratings in SK, which I admit I know nothing about. It didn’t really focus on him being demonic or evil in DAYS, it just was a more natural transition from someone who’s been causing literal doom for centuries to now being almost human with his emotions. This is what I hoped for in this show too. I want him to be good, but I think he went from scary demon to absolutely in love real quick.

(Also if you liked the “charging” thing, DAYS did do something sort of similar that was cute but it was to charge something for her not him)

Do you actually want it spoiled? I HIGHLY recommend just watching it, it’s truly one of my absolute favorites and I’ve watched a lot!

I read the synopsis. This show hasn’t done that synopsis justice. This is my opinion and you’re totally allowed to feel differently. I don’t think it’s about the plot twist, it’s the overall execution of the plot. I wanted something darker and more emotional, I guess. I was hoping this would be in the same vein as Doom At Your Service which did SUCH a good job transitioning the ML from darker to a beloved love interest. This seems to lean heavier on the humor/cute side which I wasn’t expecting at all given the plot about a hellish demon.

I am still watching it, but the story feels like a wattpad fanfic of a teenager tbh, and i keep forgetting that…
I 1000000% agree with everything you've said. You were able to put into words how I feel about this show when I really couldn't. I kept thinking that it's lacking ... something but idk what. The cinematography is great, the acting isn't bad, the chemistry is cute, but it's falling flat because of the script I think. It feels uneven, rushed at times and then not enough development elsewhere. I'm still watching because I love both leads and I've come this far, but I really had higher hopes.

Voted, but am I the only one here with strong 3rd ML syndrome?
Shhhh no the third ml is the SML in my eyes and the first male lead in my heart (bc the prince is so bro zoned it’s not even a romantic lead)

I do think it's more of a matter of people who are enjoying it don't really feel the need to complain in the comments…
For sure! And I will say I personally enjoy the chemistry, especially in their past scenes. I’m not sure why my perspective is so different from everyone else. Feel free to dm me when you watch if you need someone to talk about the show with!!

Do we have any idea how this is going to end? I'm worried but also holding out hope for a potential happy ending. Thoughts?

If it doesn't end well, though, I think Do Ha is going to sacrifice himself somehow to save her and end their curse. If that's the case, I'm going to be so upset. I freaking HATE the dad and want him to die knowing they both outsmarted him eventually.

Wow! The trailer for this is so good and I was really looking forward to starting it but the overwhelming consensus…
I do think it's more of a matter of people who are enjoying it don't really feel the need to complain in the comments rather than there not being as many people who are enjoying it. The rating speaks for itself though as it's a fairly high rating on MDL, especially for a currently airing show.

It's not the best thing I've ever watched, but I've really REALLY enjoyed it. Surprisingly so as I didn't have that many expectations going in. I love Kim Young Dae but his performances have never really caught my eye before. However, he's done a fantastic job with this show. I genuinely think it's his best performance to date. I also think the leads have great chemistry, they're just dealing with a lot looooot of issues/trauma/etc. so they're not necessarily able to convey their emotions (or even know how deeply they care for each other). But the glimpses we get, the caring for the other in the little things, they're great at that!

I personally ADORE the FL. She's strong, brave, and has the softest heart. She's an angel and a badass and I think people are being unfair when they assume because she's been crying (rightfully so, /I/ was tearing up at the things she was going through) she's somehow not strong. At no point have I thought her to be dumb or annoying or frustrating. I love her.

I enjoy both historical and current day scenes immensely. Both have been really well done actually. As to the ending, it really could go either way. It could be sad or it could somehow work out for them (I'm really hoping for the latter but we'll see).

Either way, I think it's your choice and I wouldn't let the comment section sway you either way. If anything, wait for it to finish to see how people react to the ending (as that could make or break it) but I, for one, have been enjoying it a LOT.

I've waited WEEKS for this show to finish airing so I can binge it because I KNEW I was going to like it. But then I was like oh there's only like a few more episodes left, I could totally start now and not really have to wait, there's no way I'd catch up.

Yep, I played myself. I'm in too deep, all caught up, and have a few episodes I have to painfully wait for. THIS IS FINE I'M FINE.

Bécause (a) it is a kdrama, so them shoving forced romance down our throats is to be expected and (b) the tag…
Not all kdramas are romance dramas. If that's the kind of kdrama you actively seek out then that's another thing entirely. That's like saying all american tv shows/dramas are romance just because those are the ones you hear about the most. That's also like if you assume all Korean music is Kpop. Just because pop is their most popular genre doesn't mean it's the ONLY kind of genre. The same can be said about kdramas; romance kdramas might be the most popular genre of kdramas, but that doesn't mean they're the ONLY genre.

Holy Idol said it was a romance in the genres on the MDL page. The tone they were going for was very different. This show doesn't have that tag. They might throw in a romance still but just ASSUMING bc kdramas "shove forced romance down our throats" is not a good look.

And like you said, female lead can refer to a non-romantic lead. They're just the leading lady/the star/the leading actress. Look at dramas like Stranger (2017). There's a "Strong Female Lead" tag but there was no romance.
