half satisfied.
at the very beginning this movie starts as a very cozy story. it reminded me of teen age movies from the 90's and I was prepared to feel cuddled while watching a sweet love story. in a kind of way, this is what happens but on the other hand at the very end there is a twist...
spoilers!
the first half of the movies was well executed with a little twist that made the story Interesting. the whole "misunderstanding" of who is the main love interest gave a fresh touch to a "linear" kind of movie. the second half though wasn't that satisfying for me. I feel like there is no payoff because the final twist doesn't "cement" a well written love story.
I felt particularly weird that our fl is so obsessed but a guy she maybe saw for ... 6 months?
she keeps thinking about this guy for yearsssss.
I know it's her first love, but it felt a bit exaggerated because the movie doesn't give us too much of a love story in the first place.
their love didn't feel solid enough to justify these big emotions.
the death of the ml didn't land as hard as it should. it felt the movie took this direction just for shock value.
is it a bad movie? I don't think so. it is heartbreaking? well, there are heartfelt moments but overall the impact isn't too strong.
to sum it up, the movie feels nice but without a strong direction.
we know nothing about these characters. there is no emotional, character development.
what was it even about?
how to overcome Grief? no
a groundbreaking love story? no
an unshackable friendship? no
maybe this concept works better for a series than a movie .
