frankly? ...boring

I don't why but I couldn't get into this drama. On paper there is everything: two passionate leads, a sad backstory, a trauma to resolve, some cheeky moments but in reality I didn't feel anything.
The plot revolves around 2 childhood friends that for some unknown reason to the viewer (until episode 3) are unable to connect again after years.
We follow these characters while they open up their hearts and let go of a painful past.. sounds good? On paper.. yes.
The male lead is obnoxious and the female lead is annoyingly stubborn , basicly a tsundere.
Even though the drama is filled with "heart breaking" moments I didn't feel anything for them.
The drama is full of flashbacks that interrupt the natural flow of the drama. 2 characters are in the middle of a conversation and the time goes back to the past to feed us some details to better understand what it is going on. I get that this style of story telling can be interesting but it was overused in this drama.
It is a constant back and forth, back and forth and at the end it became annoying.
The theme of the drama is "summer" because the protagonists used to meet only in this season because of circumstances but the talking about summer, seasons in general, stars is too much.
They keep repeating the same stuff over and over again.

Spoiler: the main actors plays 2 roles, 2 twin brothers and I must admit he did a pretty bad job. I like the actor but his portrait of the 2 twins was confusing. Is some scenes I was confused about who was who or maybe they did in purpose just to confuse the audience and make things more "dramatic".
The love story is typical of this kind of drama. Very surface level love between two childhood friends. I didn't feel a strong connection. The fact the actors didn't have much chemistry didn't help.
Mid drama I was more interested in the second couple.
The main leads were annoying , repetitive and boring even though they have interesting back stories but we don't explore them too much in depth.
I watched the last 2 episodes skipping here and there because I lost interest in the story.

This a standard drama and if you don't have anything on your watch list or don't care about "explosiveness" I think you might enjoy it.

don't waste your time.... there is no story here.

this summer I'm kind stucked in a BL loop so I'm giving this one a try.
so far this show has been really boring.
male leader number 1 starts obsessing over a guy that helped him ONCE on a mountain and moves from literally across the country just to meet him and go to the same university.
he start admiring more and more this charismatic dude and follows him like a puppy. so far he doesn't have a personality and everything he thinks about is " what is this feeling I feel when I look at this guy and start thirsting over him... I'm really confuseeeeeed"😒.
on other other hand, the other ml has an undeniably charisma to him and start helping this hopeless puppy that really seems too dumb to be true.

sidenote: supporting characters are non existing.

I get that these episodes are really short but nothing of substance really happens. the before last episode was all about Helping a random child finding his way home... c'mon...

I'll finish this series but it don't think is going to get that much better.

UPDATE: I just realized this series ended. I was convinced this drama had 11 episodes not 10, so I'm a little bit surprised.
how did it go? .... emmmm. was this even a drama? was there a story? cause I definitely didn't see one.
these two establish a relationship over literally NOTHING. one is chill and carries marbles (still wondering why, that explanation sounded really dumb), the other one is in love with someone who shared a few nice words with him... shouldn't he be in love with half of his class then?
other characters are no existing. nothing really happens.
I don't see that much chemistry between the actors. they are individually good but they don't match each other's energy.
it's not worth watching. like at all.
save you some time.

Man was I disappointed....

Let me start by saying that I was really anticipating this drama cause I love the main actors. They always do a great job but this drama was something else.
This drama is such a cluster of cliche like from start to end. It was unbearable. Don't get me wrong I enjoy watching the same genre in different flavors but this drama was just bland.

The plot line is simple. Two kids meet when they are young, for some reason they separate and meet again when adult. They obviously dislike each other for past reason but end up together.
Fine. But there isn't much more to it. No drama, ridiculous conflicts, no emotions. You ve seen the same rom Com a million time but done better.
I skipped entire scene, for examples the ones with the grandma. She was such a part thin chacter it was unbelievable. Let me be evil cause my son died and I somehow hate my child nephew because of it.
The love story was also disappointing. I love me some enemy to lovers stuff but in episode 2 it was already clear he was already in love with her. No build up.
Reaching episode 12 was a struggle.
Don't recommend.

slow start... but it gets better

this drama started off really.... boring!
I must admit that I was almost going to ditch it. the first 5,6 episode are sooooo boring but it gets better after.
the middle part was the most interesting. we get some adrenaline thanks to the whole kidnapping drama and we are able to follow the splitted life of Robin and go seo Jin.
I don't know how accurate the drama portraits the did sindrome but "drama wise" it was compelling and captivating. the main actor did a decent job at keeping the two characters separated from one another.

towards the end it gets pretty emotional. I cried during the last 2 episodes.
this drama is not extraordinary but if you don't have anything on your watch list, it is worth a watch.

downside: I didn't particularly like the main female protagonist. the actress was fine but nothing exceptional and the character didn't really have that much depth to it.
the main theme songs are pretty redundant.

if you like funny comedies that's definitely not one of them.

I don't get the high rating.

I was really excited to watch this drama. I heard many good things about it and the rating was super, but I was quickly disappointed.
this drama is really boring! I skipped so many scenes I was almost tempted to leave the drama halfway into it.

we follow the main leader which is born super strong due to a curse. she tried all her life to help people without letting the world know about her powers.

it could be a good premise but the curse is almost never addressed, only briefly, there is no depth to it.

in the first episodes we get introduced to whom will be the main leader's romantic interest. at first the series tries to imply a "love triangle", but this plot line is abandoned shortly after. the "friend" never gets a real chance even though boon su has been "madly" In love with him for years. no trace of doubts, not for a second.

the president of the ainsoft is kind of a "quirky" character which sometimes Is endearing but many times appears as caricature. he is so over the top. I skipped so many scenes where he basically talks to himself about how sweet his girl is, how cute she acts, even though boon su does literally nothing.

the secondary characters lack in personalities. her best friend, which we know nothing about except that she's from Busan; her brother , which has no depth and a "out of the blue" relationship with another forgettable character.

the whole gangster plot lines was totally unnecessary and frankly boring.

the jokes were corny as hell.
the Indian monk.... I don't even know what to say about that...

the main point of the drama should be the kidnapping case... but that also falls flat. we never get a real motive. the culprit liked a play...and that's it? no backstory, no motives..

let's not forget the "video game" stuff. maybe once in the drama boon su plays a video game, but we are supposed to know that she LOVES games and has always dreamed of creating one...

I don't know why so many people liked it.

the actors are good but the story just isn't there.

awesome!

this Drama is funny, romantic, dramatic and full of Surprises. you'll never get bored. the plot Is interesting and even thou the trope "enemies to lovers" has been explored many times, this drama does a good job at not falling into kitsch cliches. the acting is really good and by the end of it you'll even start thinking "what..another plot twist?". the romance is on point and the actors make a good job. highly rewatchable. there is something for everyone to enjoy. the only point I was kind of disappointed is that there is not really a "hot" scene between the main leads, but that's nothing new in the k dramas.
lots of real kisses thou. (not the usual still and stiff kisses you get in many dramas).

dropped after 2 episode...

Dropped after 2 episode
I get that this kind of drama are expected to be silly but I really can't keep seeing the same cliche over and over.
Girl gets dumped by her boyfriend, guys is looking for a girl to show off to his parents in order to be left alone.
They start living together thanks to an offer from the real estate. A free rent house in exchange for some ig posts. Who wouldn't say yes?
But then we get to the weird part. They obviously sign a contract because this is a fake relationship. As expected the guy tried to sound cool and states "don't fall for me girl".
So far so good but then... The same night he starts kissing her and asking when they are going to have sex because even though this is a fake marriage, somehow he expects to have sex.
She is a bit reluctant but then agrees. This guy is a creep. She entered this relationship because quote"she is sick of love and doesn't want to suffer anymore" but ends up overthinking about this guy and if he can fall for her.
Of course she is the usual damsel in distress.
Not funny, not cute, doesn't make sense. Just skip it

this is ridiculous.

this drama makes no sense. we got two guys that are so madly in love they yell at each other because they don't know how to express their feelings.
first male leader is a doormat. basically he doesn't care about being bullied. he has zero self estime and ends up "falling in love " (obsessing) over a guy for basically no reason.
he thinks this guy helped him out in some way but that's just in his mind.
then we have the cool kid. he's an asshole, a bear only capable of yelling. they basically develop a slave/master relationship.
there is zero development between these two but we are suppose to cheer for them?
they obsess over each other for years and end up together like magic.
I don't know. in the last episode I laughed my ass off cause it was just so cringe. the guy licking the other one finger was really weird🤣
no romantic scenes, no kissing.
if you are looking for that kind of stuff Feel free to skip this drama.
Totally not worth it.

it's good....but not excellent.

I was really curios about this show because honestly I really struggle in finding Interesting japanese dramas.
this has (or had) a lot of potential but somehow it manages to be .....meh.

the story: interesting. a young man manages to evoke a yokai and to bond with her experiencing love for the first time.
the yokai though is on her mission to find the five families that contributed to segregate her fellow yokai and therefore kill them.
hachi, the protagonist really cares for Izzy (the yokai) but doesn't agree with her "methods" of freeing her friends.
that's basically the plot in a nutshell.

the acting is really good. the music, the photography are also enjoyable but what is really lacking in the script.
the funny moments are not really funny, the tense moments are not really tense. I get that this is a short series and developing characters and plots takes time but everything is too much superficial.

don't get me wrong it is still enjoyable but it feels liked a missed opportunity.

the last episode gives away the fact that the story is far from over and that a second season should be on the horizon but as for now , June 2024, nothing seemes to be confirmed.

give it a watch if you want something light.

don't watch if you have a brain

I watched this drama for basically 2 reasons:
1) I wanted some japanese listening practice
2) I am a masochist.

if you reached season 2 you probably already watched the first one and let me tell you... they are basically the same thing.

we meet again naochan and ueharakun and nothing changed.

NAO is still a dumb, selfish obsessed girl that acts like a 10 years old kid.
uehara Kun is still a bear incapable of expressing emotions, still treating NAO like shit and caring only about himself.

I get that these two are the main characters but I find them so unlikable. everyone is in lobe with them for some reason and surprisingly everyone is a better match for them than the other lead.

NAO has no live. she only thinks about uehara Kun. even when talking to other people the things she says are said bevuase ahe is thinking of uehara Kun. basically, she doesn't care about other people's lives unless is something she can apply to herself. she has an idea of how a romantic relationship should look like and uehara Kun, unlike other characters, is unable to give that but she persists for some reason.
she is basically fixated on her first love and that's it. there is no other reason for her to like this dumbass.

uehara Kun is incapable of having a romantic relationship. he struggles to show affection even after almost 2 YEARS OF DATING.
he never thinks about NAO unless someone is getting closer to her and remembers she exist. basically it is a possession thing.
he only treats her kindly when she is already on the ground and other people tell him NAO is struggling.
at least unlike NAO she seems to have a resemble of a life outside of nao.

the other characters have little screen time but could potentially be more interesting than the main couple.. but sadly... they get involved with these 2 dummies.

the drama is boring, repetitive and the most annoying part is that there is no doubt they will end up together even though it doesn't make any sense.

I know I know, it is a shoijo manga and I'm not the target audience. I get it. but I still think there is much better stuff out there for young kids. this drama is just dumm and frankly far away from educational or being a "coming of age story". there is nothing to learn from these two.

this drama...made me mad!

I was really enjoying the first half of the series.
it all takes place in a school where Bek ho rang, our protagonist, is an "insta celebrity" and has many eyes on her. she doesn't seem to be that approachable and often spends time alone while her peers idolize her or just straight up criticize her out of jealousy.
one day, someone from her past start threatening her to reveal something about her past and she freaks out but decides to join the school radio club to find out who This person is.

so far so good. the series starts hinting at something really "horrendous" that happened in Bek ho rang's past but when in the last 2 episodes the truth starts to come out.... I got really mad.

spoiler:
Bek ho rang was the victim of a bully.
and that is where I got mad.
first of all the "bullying" was not cool , of course, but is was not so horrendous as described.
during the series she meets her supposed bully and doesn't fling a bit.
admitting that she was bullyed would save her sooooo much trouble but she just lets people's mind run wild about what happened. so much so that people think she is the actual bully.
I get to a certain degree that it is humiliating to admit something so personal but Bek ho rang brings it to such an extreme that it made me mad.
she pushes away her only friend and stops talking to her because of that, she lets everybody talk shit about her, believe that she is a bully, she lets her comments online run wild which is insane since she is an actual Influncer and has contracts and cherry on top, people usually get expelled for this kind of behavior..
I don't really get it.
the second bully (yeah there is another one) is bat shit crazy and no one does anything to stop her.

at the end, the drama is not that bad but it's not that good.
I'd say the best characters are actually the secondary ones.
it's a cute story about a girl becoming more welcoming towards others but .... it's nothing groundbreaking.

mmmm... not exciting.

from watching the first episodes I was anticipating something really spicy, scandalous. rich people with nothing to lose and lot of power to create scandals but I was quickly disappointed.
the drama really kicks in 3 episodes from the very end.
I ended up skipping a lot of scenes and flashbacks.
we all know the plot. bad guy tries to seduce an innocent girl because of a bet he made with his childhood friends but ends up falling in love with the girl.
nothing new but also nothing wrong with it. the fact is that I was expecting more depravity from these "tormented" characters but the story feels really teenager level of drama.
I wouldn't recommend it but I don't to bash it either.

as cliche as it can be..

if you watched any Japanese office drama , you already saw this one.

our female protagonist get cheated on by her Shitty boyfriend. she is devastated but her office superior comes around to rescue her and asks her to fake a relationship in order to put at bay his demanding mother and take revenge on the female boyfriend.

pretty classic stuff nothing groundbreaking... even thou they tried to twist the narrative. the superior is not trying to help his subordinate but... drumssssass... he is trying to takes revenge on her because in high school they were friend and she rejected his feelings for her.

this lasted like the blink of an eye. they get together immediately.
the second half of the drama is about the male lead mother trying to separate the two .

why do I watch these kind of dramas you ask? I watch them to practice some Japanese listening but being a short web drama is no excuse to be this cliche or sloppy.

"semantic error" is a short web drama as well but it made so well you cannot end up enjoying it.

this drama here is filled of cliche, no interesting characters, no intriguing dynamics.

don't watch and save you some time.

this is a tasty salad.

what I mean by salad? this drama has a bit of everything. you LL find love, one sided crushes, family issues, friendship, revenge, hatred etc.
I really liked this drama but it is far from perfect.

the main plot line revolves around our FL and her work as a pd on tv channel. she faces issue in her private and professional life.

the story per SE is compelling and entertaining. the strong point of this drama to me is its realizability. we have a far from perfect main leader. she is almost 40, not married, chaotic love life and her carrier as a pd is not at the point she wishes. fortunaly she is surrounded by good friend and a loving family.
let my tell you... the side relationships in this drama are the best parts. it could stop my self from tearing up at every interaction of the FL with her parents or her married couple of best friends. the side relationships are really sweet.

her best friend turns out to be.. surprise surprise... her main love interest. nothing groundbreaking there but I feel even though she was a bitch to him sometimes, the struggles of going from friends to lovers are real. if you ever experienced it, it is a bit of a confusing moment.

I liked that the FL wasn't a Mary sue. she was far from perfect, messed up but always owned up to her mistakes.

what I didn't like about the drama is that with 16 episode they could have done more. many themes were inserted but never explored. the other pd family history? never gets explained.
one of the reality show contestant facing ed issues? never explored. and so on.

i wish they did more with the rivalry between the 2 pd's.

the reality show scenes were kinda boring to be honest. we never get to know the contestants that much. it was really shallow . I think It was a wasted opportunity.

the last couple of episodes also feel a bit crammed. there was too much stuff they could have explored better in more episodes.

overall it's a good drama. nothing shocking but it leaves you with good vibes.

i liked it very much but I wish I liked it more

hotel del Luna was on my watchlist for a while. finally I decided to give it a go reading the wonderful review and let me tell you, It was worth the watch.
even though I liked it some things still bothered me.

first of all... del luna hotel. I know Italian and some Spanish... del Luna is definitely the wrong preposition. but this is just nitpicking for the sake of being annoying 😅

the story is really compelling. a bunch of resentful soul run a hotel helping other souls with their departures and unfinished businesses on earth.

the characters are pretty much all likeable, even the grim reaper who made me laugh out of the blue with his expressions. I don't know why. I just love him.

the staff member were initially marginal but got more flashed out towards the end. the last episodes I cried like a fountain.
unfortunately during the series they don't get that much depth. only the final episodes give us the real juice about them.

the main star is obviously IU. great performance and marvelous outfits even though I sometimes struggles identifying her angelic face with a 1300 old resentful soul. she looked too innocent.

the human manager was ok. I didn't dislike his character but I didn't love him. he was very Plain in my opinion.

i liked their initial relationship as manager and hotel owner/mentor but I didn't completely bite their love story. they didn't have THAT chemistry. they looked more like pals than lovers.
I think the love story, which we get literally crumbs of, was completely unnecessary to the plot and that's coming from someone who watches mainly romance.

the other characters were just there. especially the best friend Sanchez. we know nothing about him and then bam... he gets strucked by tragedy. i don't know.. they could hace done way more with him or others.

the manager mother story was also kinda meh. why bring her up anyway?

speaking on the drama itself I must say that the music choice was great.
the aesthetic was pleasant.
the only thing that annoyed me a bit were the long ass transitions. too many effects, camera changes etc.. a hug would last 1 minute. I skipped a lot.

end....
I was emotional but not gut wrenching as goblin. I compare the two because they have a similar Story/vibe
they both leave you with a somewhat open ending but goblin was just better.

this drama leaves you also with many questions.

why does the hotel need to disappears? do they have to build everything from ground? who will be the next owner?

if a resentful soul stays too long on earth the entire staff of the hotel should have become an evil spirit...
etc etc.
it is a good drama don't get me wrong but I wishing we got a bit more.
