yeah the anime didn't do the second half justice because i personally like the second half of the manga much more than the first! it's such a good series. i think i can understand why dramas tend to be so black and white re: good and evil considering limited time, budget, etc. but it's a little annoying because whats the point of a story if you don't want to take a complex route that makes your viewers think a little??
also! hang on i confused artificial city with fabricated city hahaha i did not watch artificial city so i take my statement back - can't have an opinion on the ending since i never got to it. i think for morally grey characters i really enjoyed king of pigs if you ever feel like watching something of that genre.
re: makjangs - i enjoy them bc of how nonsensical they are - sometimes you just need some crazy people on your screen without needing to put too much brain power into it
such a strange drama im not sure if i like it...watching for the cast but i wish the setting had been different like why couldnt they have been her classmates instead...

man i love death note, the back and forth was entertaining and the characters were likeable! i think usually i can forgive anything if the characters make me feel something but unfortunately a lot of dramas don't do that. they tend to go over the top with both the evil and the good, so it just falls flat.
i was not watching artificial city for the plot so i can't say i remember much either 🤠but i do remember thinking the ending was unsatisfying. i think climax had something it was trying to do but i didn't like how it went about it at all, so at the end of the day it wasn't good enough for me. upsetting tbh because the cast is so stellar i was really excited for it. but oh well
i've heard such terrible things about sponsor that i will not be wasting my precious free time on it LOL but i've saved WOTM for a really boring day because unfortunately makjangs do make for good entertainment

no no, i mean like execution of each mini-arc - everything is a series of 'and then he came back from this with THIS trump card that he had hidden all along and then SHE came back with THAT trump card that she had hidden as well and then--' that gets more and more ridiculous as it goes
the main plotline for both have something they're trying to do and i'll admit i never watched penthouse season 3 so i dont know how it ended, but artificial city and mine weren't paced or executed this way, even though genre-wise they fit closer to climax than penthouse. can't say for wotm and sponsor because i didn't watch those
what a trash show lmao i'm surprised i sat through all of it. tried so hard to be penthouse but penthouse was so weird it was entertaining, while this was just a shitshow. i hope for everyone's sake they're not doing a season 2
it feels like a very perverse approach to a gay woman being stuck in a loveless, sexless marriage. she would never have married him if it weren't for this, and we know that, but instead of focusing on her struggle within that marriage given that she's been assaulted and trafficked before and her husband is now also someone who expects sex from her when she doesn't want it, or the relationships she has with women from the angle of someone who loves them, they insist on making it perverse, only using it for sex scenes and shock value. she's said to have feelings for jaesang (which could be a lie too) and yes ofc she could be bi, but why does a man get to be the recipient of her /feelings/ while the women only get to be sexual objects? supposedly the lifechanging relationship she had was with jisoo, but even that we're first introduced to in a perverse 'omg isn't it scandalous that those two were lovers, look at that'. even if the show is meant to be sensational, the approach they have towards this specific aspect of it is a little off. the fact that CSA is gay is part of the sensationalism, rather than the broader discussion around how people in the entertainment industry are treated by those with power
They are definitely relying on shock value a bit for me. But if this is about the FL being gay, it's not the main…
it's not about her being gay (tho as i said in another comment, i think her being stuck in a marriage like that is being used for shock value and not given consideration as something real people have to deal with) and tbh everyone sucks here, we're not talking about morality, it's more about how the pacing makes everything happening look cheap and forced. just tossing every possible thing into the show to make it as shocking as possible and it ends up being annoying and tasteless as a result
why are you assuming i'm not used to it lol. if it's bad it's bad, there's plenty of makjangs out there that don't piss me off and this is not one of them
the piss scene, the fact that they're using a wlw relationship for shock value instead of giving it or wlw people any real consideration, everything's coming one after another so with the pacing and episode count there's no depth to anything, it's just a series "i did this" "you did this so i did that" "you did that because i did this so i did THAT" over and over again. the incidents themselves are whatever, but one after another they just look cheap. bad pacing, bad writing, it's annoying
What part did you hate, that he escapes the novel-game 'through the power of love', or that due to transmigration…
all of the above but of that list, mostly the power of love. i think things had been sort of building up to 'gao haiming was also a player' and that could've filled the last 5 eps instead of all that unnecessary amnesia and whatever angst bc it'd have kept the tone of the series and taken to the real world so you'd have real people falling in love instead of needing all the things you listed above. so.
ruined a great drama with a crappy ending Yet Again. i can think of like 3 different ways to fix it without changing the overall tone and still making it work narratively. i don't know why drama scriptwriters always want to take the most nonsensical route possible every single time. it was going so well! it was literally such a great show!! and they ruined it!!
