I don't understand all the hate. It's definitely not the best of dramas, but it lacks a lot of the irritation and idiocy of some of the others, including many that are incredibly popular. I've only seen the first half of the 2013 version, and so far I'm preferring this one. The sound effects are laughable, the music is hit or miss, and the fights could've been better choreographed and with more physical fighting and less magical fighting. Also, there are a handful of scenes where it feels like stuff was cut out, but it's easy enough to ignore. Those weaknesses aside (which are pretty much a given for Chinese dramas, unfortunately), I'm finding this to be a compelling, poignant story, with some good fighting, better than usual acting, well-paced, and a good message of justice and equality.
this one blow. too many cut. dont waste your time. i dropping it.
Too many cut? You mean they race through the fights with each shot lasting maybe half a second? I didn't like it at first, but having read some Jin Yong novels, I came to realize it's actually faithful to the dizzying style of the books.
I've always planned on watching the original, but never got around to it... I don't think. lol Are the subs any…
The subs were great for the first episode. Haven't watched any more yet. At first I was thinking it was a poor substitute for the only other 天龙八部 I've seen, the 2013 one, but by the end I was really enjoying it.
It's a total ripoff of Star Wars, but it's not unwatchable by any means. I'm only two episodes in, so maybe it gets worse, but so far it's got enough that's unique to it that all the Star Wars elements don't ruin it. Sure, there's the Space Ninjas instead of the Sith, resource depletion instead of a Death Star, a talking ape instead of a Wookie, and much more. It came out only about 14 months after A New Hope, so perhaps there wasn't enough material to have ripped off too much more of the storyline, seeing how it's 27 episodes long, each about 25 minutes, and the original elements are shining through. I think there's potential.

Terribly subbed. Half-Indonesian half-English subtitles that have almost no association with the Chinese subtitles. I'm going crazy here trying to find some way around this.
I really cannot imagine why everybody is hating on this show. You all must really just hate Chinese dramas. Or you only watch them for the pretty faces, and the stars of this show aren't pretty enough for you? It's not perfect, but neither is it boring, stupid, badly written, badly cast. The impression I get from most of the comments here is that you all came to it with massive preconceived notions that were not met. I have never gone into one of these dramas with preconceived notions and I've never been dismayed.
People are just hating because they are young actors.
That seems to be exactly it, ForgottenSoul. That, and many people seem to think Roy Wang is ugly. The Chinese-language comments on the YouTube videos are quite vicious.
But if you can accept that they actually have teens playing teens - unlike so many American productions where you've got 32 year olds playing high schoolers - and give the benefit of the doubt, then I think it's a pretty good show.
