This is really good. First Japanese drama I've ever seen. I think I'll binge through the next two seasons.
It is really a rather typical fantasy narrative. There's the quest, there's the destination they have to reach, a band of supporters helping the person with the quest, and then the villain trying to spoil the quest.
If the West still made good movies, I can see us having made something not too different, at least in premise. The execution, though, is what made it so good, and that was done in a rather Asian manner.
The first few episodes were not too great for me. I had no idea what was going on. I'd say I got hooked around…
That's often the case for wuxia or xianxia. The main character in Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre, for instance, wasn't even born until like episode seven.
Does anyone know the release schedule for episodes on Amazon? I think I died a little on the inside when I realized…
Viki will be releasing episode 28 on Thursday. I'm expecting Amazon to follow Viki's schedule from here on out. At least, I hope they do, at the very least. I liked how they were a few episodes ahead of Viki for so long, but now I just hope they keep up.
Just asking...have other C-Dramas aired completely without warning/promotion? Just *poof* and they were there?…
That's usually how it is, at least lately. Since I've been watching. I don't believe any dates on here. No matter how much they've advertised the date. Every historical/wuxia/fantasy series this year seems to have come out with no warning, often missing the date it was supposed to premiere.
For instance, I checked literally every day for a month to see when Novoland: Eagle Flag would come on. I told myself I was just making myself miserable, so I kept off of MDL for three days. Little did I know, it began airing the day after I had last checked!
Poof and it's here after a million poofs and it's not.
What the @#$%? I go three days without checking MDL and the show I've literally spent 2000 hours learning Chinese for just happened to begin in that period?

I can get by without them, but not easily. I was thinking of using this show as practice for Chinese-only viewing.
Thanks for the link.
