One more episode left? Wow! This drama started and ended so quickly! It was a breezy watch, not complicated, full of pretty colours, loveable characters, endearing camaraderie, good character redemption. I still haven't seen the last episode but I feel good about it. It did just right as a feel-good youth drama. 7.8/10 a solid grade!
We still don't know what hid agenda, he is just moving here and there, and not doing anything, I have no idea,…
I know it's the mandatory angst arc but that's such an overused story trope, I hope the production figures out a fresher way to proceed into the angst arc.
Now that we think about it, she wasn't crazy or clingy at all. She took SBS's rule to heart and decided that pursuing another future and a chance at being SBS's gf was worth her time. And then she tried her best to make him like her (which backfired). After Xiao Qing's antics, she almost seems... commendable. I mean, she backed off so nicely when she got proper evidence that SBS was already taken.
I had high expectations when I was starting this drama but as the story goes on, something is a bit off for me…
I'm with you on this one, I wanted Park Eun Bin to hit it big with this one but there are too many plot holes. This drama is definitely beginner friendly, but probably not for those who have dabbled in historical dramas before. I genuinely liked ep 1 and 2, and ep 11 was a happy surprise. But with ep 12, we're back in "puppy love is all you need" mode. The only aspect that's keeping me from dropping the is plot around Crown Prince's Grandfather and how he will fall out of power (and what will happen to Ji-un's dad). That plot is still very interesting.
I liked his character at the beginning, when he worked at the pharmacy and there was this rebellious but kind…
I really enjoyed ep 11, probably because the writers didn't need to force Ji-un's character to be a puppy all the time and could actually progress the interesting plot setting. I mean, we moved SO much in just one episode. Amazing.
I sense this throughout the whole drama and not just Rowoon, so i am guesing this is the vibe the director went…
I'm a mild Park Eun Bin fan so that's probably why I am feeling the sliiiightest bit of disappointment. I just wanted this story to pan out a bit more like Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and not Hwarang. I wonder if you had watched the dramas I mentioned? Maybe we can discuss and see how this drama is, hmm, how do I put it... missing the "it" factor?
My thoughts exactly! I think that's how it is with comedy in historical dramas. It doesn't take long before it…
Yes, that's how I was feeling too. It's not bad to be a "modern" costume drama, but I just happen to feel the same dissonance that I felt with Hwarang a while back (probably because I am not this drama's intended audience). I appreciate the camera work, the staff is doing a great job with editing, all the actors are very good at their parts but I am not being transported back in time. I agree with Diamond's comment below, it's probably the director's taste. Art comes in many temperatures, so what I find lukewarm might be a hot hit to another, vice versa. Thanks for your reply!
Rowoon is a good actor but I don't get a sense of realism required for the era... It's not entirely his fault as the script needs him to be a loveable dork. But it's hard to think the little boy from ep 1&2 grew into Rowoon, that little boy exuded noble boy vibes, like a boy that has been raised with a silver spoon but has a heart of gold and is willing to widen his horizon. Rowoon... he's charming, but he doesn't give off the same noble energy. I feel like Nam Yoon Su is doing a much better job at giving off fresh young emotions while embodying the noble vibes. I hope I don't offend anyone, I am not saying Rowoon can't act, who am I to say that. I just feel a bit of a ... dissonance if you will.
Like I know that it is a romance genre and things at one point or another are bound to look as if the situations…
I agree with your thoughts on that scenario, I was wondering how a royal tutor can just walk in to the room where the King works in without much permission. Having watched enough sageuks and taigas and other royalty dramas, I have a feeling tutors are kept further apart than eunuchs and court ladies. It would make far more sense if Eunuch Hong walked in there instead. Actually the bodyguard boy, Gaon, can do more than a royal tutor, because he was appointed by the Queen Dowager to be with the Crown Prince at all times. I was as confused as you.
