Wow, how did the ratings jump from 8.0 to 8.4! I'm excited to see this week's episode to see what brought this change.

I agree, I think many people saw it coming, including myself, when the whole "Rong Dingkun has Shizhen, his ideal good girl young lady, in front of him yet he isn't attracted" got introduced. I love badass Shizhen, would have loved more of her working against Meng Xu'An under his nose plot, maybe Wenchunli didn't need to get semi-resolved that quickly... no point going on, this is purely based on the source material. We can't argue against original :/

ugh, birth secrets are such a turn off. Wenchunli fire plot was very interesting. Birth secret just kills the mystery vibe for me. But that's fine, this show does pretty much everything else so so well.

I love this show, I love it so so much, I will most likely rate this show highly, it's executed so well (aside from that awful CGI plane sequence in ep 29 lol) however...

You're right, she was ambitious and haughty so this lesson was a much needed one. But it sucks to see one more woman being burned with love due to cowardly Rong men. I love the commentary this show incorporates on women and their so called place in society. Deep rhetoric woven between the dramatics!

I do really love how she 'woke up' to reality. Honestly, it's very easy to hate on simpleton characters like concubine Sun but if we consider that she's been raised with the mindset that money is the way to conquer all - hapiness, reputation and safety - it makes sense as to why she was so loud and boisterous and haughty. After coming in terms with the new way of thinking (Shizhen, her sister, Shixhun) and seeing that her decision is not getting her anywhere near the happiness she envisioned, she 'woke up.' I loved how her character progress, the show managed to do it well in some 6 episodes.

I'm not a mandarin speaker but what I picked up sounded like "Jiashang Ge, Teacher Feng helped me reach the doctor's, she's very nice, far nicer than my own sister." I hope I am wrong but Fangli and Fanghwa will be alright yeah? Fangli won't sell her sister out or something to get Xiucheng's affection or anything yeah? Fanghwa that pretty child will be okay yeah? Please spoil me this detail. Thank you.

I suspected this earlier in the introduction scene too. I think I watched one too many shows, close brother-sister relationship always bleeds into birth secrets and unrequited love ahaha.

I was thinking it may be Ah-Wen? Sorry I can't exactly recall his name, it starts with a W and he is Xu-an's right hand man. I think this way because the camera seems to pan on him quite often even though he doesn't have thaaat much significance to the progress of the story layers yet. He was, I believe, introduced as an orphan earlier, and he is always hanging out with Xu-an, like the scene where Shizhen visited Xu-an and he offered her pastries. Would a regular right hand man have such a familiarity with their boss to casually play billiards and chat? I may be entirely off the mark, what do you guys think?

Perhaps by incorporating sensible police who are very very good at their jobs, the ban gave them an exception. This is a very good PR for the police force after all.
