I'd gladly pay to watch this in another format. The content is good, but the format is only for those born with the smartphones glued to their hands and the attention span of a goldfish i.e. TEENS...

In my 4+ years of drama watching, I managed to complete 3 korean sageuks (My Country, Moon Lovers and this one) and I dropped many until I stop trying: sageuk & I, we were never meant to be!
I tried watching this one because of the main actor and stayed for everything else: breaking the fourth wall in ep. 1, silly story, impeccable comic timing (my kind of comedy: smart not slapstick!), OTT bad guys (the depth of the main evil dude's voice, was ridiculous!), heart fluttering romance...they managed to combine everything I like in contemporary dramas in a historical setting!
I love this concept of "fusion sageuk". Are there any others?
I just realized that she is the only actress I've watched all the dramas of: I dropped two, I hated her character in Mouse and loved her in everything else! She stealthily worms her way into you heart. Definitely one of my favourite actresses!

I never watch historicals (only ever watched three!) but I am on my KYD rewatch marathon and this is more a comedy than a serious drama.
But, back to real saeguks! In these dramas I did watch, I have NEVER seen a male character with their hair down, not in a top knot (maybe when imprisoned, a few strands of hair would get loose...). Now on ep.7 of this one: the King is taking a bath all dressed (why?) and all I'm thinking is: when is he going to wash his hair? The men sleep with their top knots and headband...What was it really like for them in Joseon?
I rarely rewatch dramas especially Korean ones but I am rewatching this after a year because I am looking for a certain screenshot I lost. I really thought I would not like it on a rewatch. Well, I do. I am loving it, as much as I did the first time around. I am noticing silly drama tropey things but they are not distracting me from the epic (love) story!
I read through the comments a bit and people are mainly complaining of KYD's "stiff" acting: he is playing a ghost of a general raised to obey orders, never to complain and stand still so how can you expect him to be soft and relaxed when he was murdered the moment he showed a sign of weakness? The ghost of the general is stiff: that is the character! Before he was possessed he was a different person and KYD portrayed the childish actor to a perfection.
One more thing, for Korean producers this time, if you are thinking about filming kisses, I'd rather we do not get any than those immobile heads barely touching somewhere around mouth area known as dead fish kisses! The emotions are flying high here, the looks they give each other are sizzling and then you go and ruin it all with ....a kiss?!?
Cute school project (I think!): unoriginal story, cute & "ordinary" looking actors (no models with abs! So nice to see!), badly recorded sound and a dirty camera lens. I know it's low budget and all that but still..."A"for effort but they need to try harder! A sweet single watch!
Funny how tastes differ! 🤣This is probably one of the worst vampire series, worst dramas I have ever seen and I've seen a lot! I watched it because I was a huge Lee Jung Ki's fan, the operative word here being WAS: this drama killed all my admiration for him (and my love of vampire lore as well, incidentally!). LOL Such a fickle fan! The saving grace and the reason I actually finished this piece of work is the actor playing Gwi: I lived for the moments he'd speak with that deep voice...Frankly I don't remember anything else from this drama! But, I'm glad you liked it so much: there must be something I missed! Great review!

So an open ending? Well, I did not expect that! Anyway, I loved it: the topic is original and thought-provoking and I liked the way they dealt with it. I found the romance unconvincing. The character of doctor was the most interesting here: morally ambiguous, fundamentally a good person with good intentions but, as the saying goes, the way to hell is paved with good intentions and that's where he ends up eventually. On the other hand, I found the romance lacking, meandering, unconvincing; almost as if it was added as an afterthought. I found the actors a bit out of synch until the two last episodes when everything started going crescendo!
As for the actors, JJ is too cute to bear and Tor looks like PPKrit but older (someone mentioned it earlier on feeds and I could not unsee PPKrit after that!🤣🤣🤣)
In conclusion, this was an excellent single watch (won't be rewatching this!) but if they ever make a sequel, I'd love to see what will become of the cop and the doc!

I am bingeing it so I'll probably be finished by tomorrow. The plot thickens, there are some new suspicious characters and a seduction game is slowly starting. Just a lingering question: is it sincere? I am loving it so far, the acting, the atmosphere, the music....excellence in evidence!
I saw him for the first time in Project S: Side by Side where he played an autistic teen and a super gifted badminton player. This guy is a fabulously talented actor! With his filmography at the age 30, I don't think that he'll ever be needing his diploma in Packaging Technology! BTW, I never knew such a degree existed! 🤣🤣
