Yeah whatever flaw this show has, this is a must watch drama and my favorite in 2023. It will left you feel bittersweet but satisfying.

I love the empress too in the end. She's a beacon of light, she's also not evil power hungry person, her argument so on point and helpful to the dumb emperor.

I think E31 will show us the care that FL can give to ML and the depth of her love.

E33 before Cui Lin becomes Crown Princess.

Yes up to agreeing to General Cui's murder she's still a tolerable girl. Even some people want her to end up with ML. But after that she's downright evil and a for me.

"Unrequited love" is "unrequited" for now. It might not be the case tomorrow. There is no reason for her to sit back and say "oh, the man I love and that woman make such a lovely couple"." Well maybe we agree to disagree about this because in my moral standard it's shameless to impose some feelings to others that already been taken even just emotionally attached not in relationships. The only way for me to accept miss Gu is if she's waiting not interfering, untill Cui Lin and Li Ni move on from each other then make a move. But since they're not, why bother. Just admit defeat and move on gurl.

"Gu also knows she is a better fit for crown princess because, she knows the court/procedures, her father has strong support there. So as far being able to push forward any crown prince she would be far greater help to achieve any of his aims." I think there's a way to give support to him without her must become Crown Princess. Procedures and Protocols etc can be learned and it's not like Cui Lin is a dumb girl with low mentality. She's tough and smarter than miss Gu given time I think she can adapt to palace life.

My favorite is the first live and then the third phase after they come back to their original being. I just couldn't love Houchi and Qingmu as much as Shanggu and Bai Jue because their sense of duty is what drove me to like this drama so much. One is a Chief of God while the other is God of Fire and how theyre very responsible to their duty and destiny to the point sacrificing theirself and their future is so tragic. Houchi and Qingmu suppose to be their fulfillment of this future that they wished for but for me it's kinda like a dream that they will wake up to eventually. Their duty and their destiny will stilll looming waiting for them. Also even though Houchi supposed to be happy but her life is so sad that she doesn't have enough power, she's being bullied here and there especially by her former servant and her bitch of a daughter. How she's being punished because she must resort to steal her supposed to be items to save Bo Xuan. How she live in exile for 100 years, must lose her husband without saying farewell properly when he awaken as Bai Jue, lost her foster father, and eventually lost her life. I know the 2nd life has its own sweet moments but its so bittersweet. Its so miserable to the point of I just want this life to be over. At least in the 3rd life after she becomes Shanggu again, however hard it is being estranged by Bai Jue and not knowing anything, she's still the respectful Chief of God and have her powerful chaos power back.

Yeah ALP is my fav xianxia. Nothing can match the story of how Shanggu and Bai Jue sacrifice theirself for each other and for 3 realms. Their devotion to the wellbeing of mankind and to each other is the thing that touches me the most. I always want to cry by how much they especially Bai Jue suffered in those 60 thousand years. And their OST is so great that I still listen to it years later. All of the OST. Zhou Dong Yu maybe not the usual standard beauty but when she smile she's so beautiful. 😍

Yeah also don't miss the scene when Li Ni doing reality check for her to put her down in her place, because that girl is so persistent and delusional acutely. Its so satisfying how he set the boundaries between them lol

Well maybe skip the 2nd life and try to watch Bai Jue coming back in E38 if Im not wrong. The angst become full blown after that.

She and her dad become the major antagonist in the latter parts. They framed Cui Army so that she becomes CP but it didn't work. So she settle being a concubine with a plan to take over the CPss status. So yeah she become a major headache later.

My evil heart actually cheer for him to do just that. But i love the intimidation scene of chopping off the earring and hair accessories too. 😆

Maybe try watch E31 when Li Ni in coma to judge their relationship because in that eps i realized how deep her love for him. All his sworn brothers died and he's in coma, but because the FL hold on to him day and night that's he's able to pull through. He still have the spirit to keep live because of her devotion and earnest prayer to God, which is something she never done before. She listen to his sadness, making his favorite dragonfly, accompany him to grieve, perform silly magic thing to distract him, accompany and soothe him in his nightmarish night . She's been a pivotal point for his mental damage after the death of his sworn brothers. And at that time i realize whatever political stance they have, FL actually love him very much.

Yeah he seems too virtuous and without flaw in the beginning so it makes sense that it was the twist

This miss Gu character is so persistent that I'm wondering what if she channel it to other great things that doesn't involve unrequited love lol. He already straightforwardly emphasize to miss Gu that he doesn't like her and never will like her even if Cui Lin isn't around. There will never be a form of relationship between the two aka he isn't interested ever in her (she's not his type) . Heck he even further sharpening the knife by saying that if she found someone else to love then he will help her. This boundaries set by Li Ni should be sufficient for her to back off this unrequited love and stay in her friendship zone and salvage maybe whatever good in herself that she has.
But no she can't accept it and insist on comparing herself with Cui Lin saying that she loves him more and she will treat him better than her etc but the thing is one sided affair is different from a mutual liking. Cui Lin maybe sometimes behave irrationally and throwing trantum at Li Ni and I admit that Cui Lin is the type that becomes a kind of spoiled person in front of the one who pampered her most like her father and Li Ni and its one of her negative traits, but that's the due of privilege of being in love and loved back fiercely by him. Mis Gu, an outsider who's not in this relationship doesn't know how Cui Lin desperately trying to save his life physically and emotionally after his best friends died and how she becomes the last thing that thethered Li Ni from following them to dead. And what's again this Miss Gu doing at those time? She just sent her maid while sitting in her room gloating in her heart about how she will become Crown Princess. And she dare to talk about treat him better!
So no need to compare herself (GWN) to how Cui Lin behave because it's different case. The heart want what it wants and there's nothing miss Gu can do about it. What not yours won't be yours even if you force it. She should know when to stop. But her persistence to compete and compare escalating and it becomes her obsession that she can't extricate herself from it to the point that she can't differentiate between good and bad anymore. Killing and ruining people lives for the sake of unrequited love is the lowest and most coward kind of loving.
If you're so brave in falling in love then you must be brave in accepting defeat when this love isn't recripocated. She didn't do the latter.
I feel pitiful for her because till the end she can't accept this and still pretending to be virtuous in front of him with the hope it would touch his heart and her ending makes most sense for me. I want to laugh at how much this word Crown Pincess irked and motivated her to the point of madness

Ancient Love Poetry

Yeah I mean I love her so much and agree with her motivation to bring a peaceful country and understand why she did what she did by forcing ML to become Crown Prince and defend her the entirety of this drama journey even when at some point her action pisses people off that they'd rather see ML choose GWN who's more "suitable" for his needs. I'm impressed and love her for her support for ML when he's in coma and i fully realize the depths of her love for him in that scene when she took care and pray earnestly for his . I still love them as perfect couple so much and I wouldn't want it other way.
But maybe i just find some flaw because i also prefer heart to heart talk about the sincerity of when they're admitting sorry instead of just knowing each other feel sorry for their behavior. I mean in the wedding cold war situation, I think ML know in his heart when FL finally feels sorry for her action before because they have a great understanding of each other but it would be nice if there's a scene about it, a word of two that speaks about it. It's not a sign of weakness when we admit our mistakes. So this little tidbit has been my flaw for this drama.

She's not annoying and certainly not dumb. I despise dumb naive FL character the most. Here she's so intelligent but some her action become debatable between viewers and its fine its usual in story but she and the ML is a perfect match who compliment each other characters.
