Do you mean 6 more episodes after the first 17 I watched? LOL. I'm used to unrealistic and don't have an issue with that. My thing is I feel Esther's character would feel more believable as Zhou Chuan's niece or step daughter. They have good chemistry together, but definitely not in a romantic sense because of how young and immature Chu Li acts. If these particular characters were in a high school/college setting drama, I think I would be more into it.
And I've watched Love is Sweet, I'm a huge fan of Bai Lu.
Everybody is praising this series so much I decided to have a try. I'm on episode 17 and all I can think is, am I watching the same series? Esther is absolutely adorable, no doubt, but is no one else getting the 10 year old Mary Sue vibes from her that I'm getting? Fluff is generally not my thing, but if the storyline or characters pull me in enough I don't mind it too much. I reallllly want to like this drama, but I'm scared it's just not gonna happen for me.
This is definitely a drama that gets better the more you watch. It's got a great storyline and I'm really enjoying many of the secondary characters. My only complaint is the actress they picked for the FL, I think another actress could have added a lot to this drama.
its like Ever Night all over again. First lead nailed season 1, and tho Im a huge fan of Dylan, he didn't do the character justice in season 2. Probably gonna happen here too.
I've watched over 300 Asian dramas but the female lead in this one has got to come in first for most selfish and immature ever. I was hoping it was just in the first few episodes and there would be some character development for her but now I'm at episode 34 and she still just as selfish and immature.
Edit : episode 38. If Prince Su gets back together with this chick Im done. The only way this series can get saved with a happily ever after is if he properly divorces her and settles down with a nice girl who loves and appreciates him. I couldn't care less who would the female lead ends. up with. Also not gonna lie, I totally clapped when FL fell off the cliff. :-D

Really? Maybe I have to get to the end to see her shine. I'm only on episode 30 and really can't say I'm impressed. She's super sad and angry right now tho, and I will say I'm really enjoying her not giggling every 5 seconds. I don't mind her acting as long as she's not being over the top happy, that just grates on my nerves.
Darren Wang's portrayal however blew my doubts and misconceptions about him out of the water. Excellent.
I'm on episode 29 and still struggling to not fast forward through big parts of this drama. I'm so very frustrated with the MZX's character. All this big, horrible, shocking stuff happened to her and I thought, 'cool, maybe this will break her out of her ditzy/clueless/Malibu barbie. And it did. She cried and was so depressed and all, for like a good five minutes. uummm. . . ?
Okay then more crazy, shocking, bad stuff happens and nicely knocks her head back out of the clouds. And now she thinks she can be all 'big, bad, scary military girl', and I just. . . laughed. Literally. Dear, you wouldn't scare a flea.
On a better note, I was really worried I wouldn't be able to really get into Darren Wang's character, but dang his acting has blown me away! So impressed! Everytime he is cruel & heartless to MXZ I'm just in awe of how much his entire presence fills up the screen. So awesome!
I really did enjoy a LOT about this show. The plotline, the OST, the coloring & general look. I was SUPER impressed with Ceasar Wu's acting and character and can't wait to see what his next project will be, tho his looks seem practically designed for historicals. (Wow!) My issue was more with Shen Jin. I adored her in the beginning, but after she git comfortable with the relationship, I felt like she started becoming more and more immature, annoying and even selfish and self-centered. Quite possibly one of the most spoiled and pampered female leads I've come across in a historical. By the time it ended I still wanted them to end up with an HEA, but it's the first time I ever really wanted the male lead to have more concubines. LOL. I felt like he spent so much time an energy taking care of her Needs & Wants and cleaning up after her messes, he deserves to have somebody to take care of him as well.
I thought she was older why are they in the same class?
I figured she's older but by less than a year? Or maybe she got held back a class because of the trauma from the car wreck? Though he's super brainy, maybe he skipped a year?

Same! Either the writer mixed up scripts and told the FL actress to play her part as a tantrum throwing five year old, or that's just some next level terrible acting she'd doing. There are so MANY dumb issues every episode that I roll my eyes at, but I can't stop watching for some reason. It's like every time I think the next episode has got to be better, and yet. . .
