The original Taiwanese drama is hands down better. Every aspect is miles better than the KDrama remake. Be it acting, story beats, themes, or soundtrack. Some would whine about the production values. You choose your poison. Do you want fancy sets or a very grounded story combined with fantasy? For perspective, SOOD is way better than LR, even though the latter is simply fabulous. Watch SOOD first. If you are dissatisfied, then watch the remake. You know what's ironic? I admire the leads of the remake from other projects. SOOD was truly a labour of love. I wasn't able to go past the first episode of the remake, and kept fast forwarding while I was at it. You need to pay attention to every little detail. You can't just be a passive viewer. SOOD made me feel nostalgic, even though I have nothing to do with South East Asia in any shape or form. To sum it up, it's a beautiful drama. 🥰

ROFL. I couldn't make past episode 1 that too by FF through the entire episode. I unintentionally wrote a huge piece on SOOD many comments ago. LOL. Looking haggard and homeless is not the same. Ironically, I have liked the leads in other shows. Very few remakes can match the originals or surpass them.

This is exactly why I don't approve of the KPop Idol system. Spending too much on merchandise can be risky. I feel one should spend only as much as one can reasonably afford to. If I am a KPop fan, like Sol, I would be cheering them on to have a full life since not all human beings are lucky enough to have the resources to do so. It's fun to imagine some celebrity as your partner. Is there anyone who didn't have a massive crush on a celebrity? But that's where it should end. These contracts laying down rules for their every breathing moment feels unfair, but, it's fuelled by the ridiculous possessiveness shown by their fans. I also think it's quite possible for a committed male celebrity to still have legions of female fans. There are real world examples. Even in the South East Asian industry, take Ji Sung for example, such fans exist.

To be frank, I would rather not be told about every single detail. Your point about language is interesting. However, I feel being given clues to figure things out for yourself allows for a more interactive and focussed engagement. I am a big proponent of show, not tell when it comes to the visual medium. This may explain why I loved the KDrama May I Help You while most didn't. However, I also don't like it when a drama takes itself so seriously that it leads you on a wild goose chase but doesn't provide the necessary payoffs.

I love SOOD, even more than LR. LR is what SOOD's KDrama adaptation should have aspired to be. SOOD and LR are so much closer in tone. I am a HEA person myself, the drama ending basically stated, no matter what, those two will always end up together. I loved the movie too. What I liked about the movie was that they didn't take the short cut, but, changed things up. Both SOOD and LR are highly re-watchable over the years.

I am not into KPop. However, I have been a crazed fan of different things. I am a loyal Potterhead, love FRIENDS, Prison Break, and lots of rock bands. However, like you, I don't spend on merchandise. (Honestly, I cannot really afford it.) Over the years, I have bought small, inexpensive memorabilia. Most of my budget for hobbies goes into buying books. 🤪😇

I loved the scene of the memories flooding back to Ryu Sun Jae in totality. The crazy back and forth, the sound design, the cuts and editing, and BWS's acting. Usually, such reveals get melodramatic in a bad way, taking us out of the realism of the scenario. BWS absolutely killed in the execution of that scene. Sun Jae looked like the wind had been taken out of his sails; he looked both like his world had come to a screeching halt and his world had started spinning at dizzying levels. Even his staggering was so natural. Damn good job to everyone involved in constructing the scene.

I don't mind. Atleast, they make each other laugh. 🤣🤣🤣

Yes, she could have been, however, Sol will forever be the "jjang"! Hate to be the Mary au Contraire, but I feel no one can displace KHY as Im Sol as the best fangirl a celebrity can ever ask for. And I am referring to only the first episode and not the rest that followed. I like PMY, but, Sol's sincere fangirling came through crystal clear. Also, Her Private Life is a decently good time. But, it can barely stop you from re-watching LR. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We have expectations of the same. Last episode airs today. It's likely if you liked SOOD, you will like this.

My goodness! I have found someone else just as passionate about languages like me. For us, LGBTQAI+ should never been a taboo. Yet, due to western colonialists, the very free flowing attitude and openness towards, as well as acceptance of a variety of sexualities got destroyed. Now, at present, there does exist stigma, but fortunately not as much. The younger generations, especially, is more progressive when it comes to sexual diversity.

I wanted to watch LJW and LJY share screen space. While waiting for the drama to complete, I read the reviews. Well, life is too hectic to devote time to something mediocre.
