Such a unique plot and beautiful Kifune as backdrop. Recommended sightseeing spot. Unfortunately full of tourists in real life, unlike in the movie. But the inns must earn some money... Walk from Kifune over Mt. Kurama to Kurama onsen or vice versa on your next trip to Kyoto. You won't be disappointed.

What's the name of that Japanese song at 53:20?
Please tell me who's the artist and the name of that song at 53:20. I want to create a cassette tape with all those songs in that movie and have most of them on vinyl, but that song is unknown to me. Please help!

It didn't hit me until the scene on the bus that it was that kind of relationship. They were just friends to me,…
Everyone grows up differently. Some develop interest into others sooner, others do later. In this case, it was rather soon, but not that's not that unusual. It's just that age when you start to discover that there's something else. I think most of us realized that a girl or boy was special around that age. And here it surely was not on a sexual level, but on an emotional level. They are still kids after all.

With the protagonists being this young at age, we see them unbiased. That's the point. They are put into despair by the grown ups, who are unable to deal with the situation. Their intention seems to protect the kids, but in reality they are more feared about themselves, not realising what immense pressure they are putting on the kids.

This topic could be translated to teenagers or to grownups, but here the innocence of the kids is what makes us think about what's going on. Who are we to judge?

BTW: Being male, I was interested in the girls at that age. So my statement is not from an LGBTQ+ point of view, but rather universal.

Such a perfect movie by German arthouse director Wim Wenders. Probably not what you are looking for, but this movie is just pure bliss. The story, the pace of storytelling, the scenery, the choice of supporting actors. No need to mention Koji Yakusho. I stopped watching western movies maybe 20 years ago, but after 20 minutes watching this movie I've just had tears in my eyes. This is just unreal!

It's good, but the ending is so annoying.
Totally agree. All what had been achieved was money, fame and glamour. OK, the conflicts in his family had also been sorted out, but this would not require time travel. I would have loved to see that he would had triggered the live of the music store owner and his family being improved. He owed the music store owner quite a bit...

We saw Hori's father tying to 'educate' him. Surely he was the one who told his son that his brain must have been switched with the one of a pig. That's the one mysterious sentence Mugino said to his mother at the beginning. He blamed it on the teacher, but he just needed to find a culprit (he was mad at the teacher because he felt mistreated by him) as he would never tell that Hori had told him that his dad thinks that Hori's brain had been switched. As Mugino shared Hori's inner feelings he came up with the idea, that his brain must also had been switched with the one of a pig. So Mugino's mother thought her son's worries were based on bullying and the teacher mistreating him.

Sad, but true: the last movie to which Ryūichi Sakamoto contributed to the soundtrack.

Because before we've been told the perspective of the parents and the teachers. They've surely been aware (just remember how the father treated his son), but in order to protect themselves (rather than the kids), they've closed their eyes. And so we've seen their perspectives with the crucial point wiped out.

I was always hesitating watching this, because of that awfully old looking guy. Today I realized that this was in fact Rentaro Mikuni! And yes, this turned out to be an old fashioned piece compared to the series starring Gaku Hamada and Toshiyuki Nishida himself. Old fashioned, but in a good way. I am already curious about the next movie with Yoji Yamada being the screenwriter. Subtitles are available only in Japanese, so I was asking Google to translate them for me.

Don't watch this, there is no romance at all!

Thank god, no romance! Many years ago I was watching My lovely Kim Sam Soon and was disappointed with other dramas featuring Kim Sun Ah, maybe she was just too skinny. But now I've watched the first 4 episodes of this and it felt like a rollercoaster. I cannot tell who is good and who is bad and luckily there are lots of more episodes to find out. Until now Kim Sun Ah's performance is absolutely stunning  and if it would have ended after the 4th episodes it would already be one of my to favorite dramas of all time.

Such a sad feel-good movie. Such a good feel-sad movie. Nostalgic and beautifully filmed like Sunny, apparently with all the feel-good vibes. But honest, so honest.

Just had a rewatch after so many years. I remember Mirai Shida being in it, but then I was amazed about the young Kaho and the even younger Sairi Ito, all of the three being the most amazing actresses nowadays. It was great to watch something totally captivating without any annoying romances.

Title Chimudondon
There are English subs for Chimudondon starting from week 6 on subscene. Check them out if you are still interested.
Better having the complete asodora machine-translated and using your brain for relacing he, she, me as well as incorrectly translated names and so on, than having one subber picking up 4 asadoras at the same time and then stopping all of them after a few weeks, leaving them in an unfinished state as noone else has the motivation to pick them up. I was really glad to be able to finish Ochoyan with the machine-translated subs. But of course I really appreciate the hard work of the serious subbers.
