I hate the filter they’ve begun using this season sm… Everything is so freaking blurry it’s giving me s headache. They should’ve just stuck with the vibrant colours, it was literally the charm of the show. smh
this has become such a dumpster fire smh, i had really high hopes 😭😭
the first 2 episodes were really good and funny, they really set it up amazingly. then, little by little we started going off rail with stupid side plots, first the murderer uncle and, when one would have thought it couldn't get any worse, the stupid cheater ex joins in on the party as well. and the amount of screentime he got really is no joke.
honestly, the center should have been the fake relationship that migrates into a real one as they catch feelings. this was advertised to be the gist and where the whole fun dynamic was at. instead, that was replaced with mediocre melodrama and ragebaiting.
i wanted to love this drama until the end, but i kept getting more and more disappointed every week for a while now. i love the leads, they are both very charismatic actors, but i feel like the script has constrained them, basically boxing them to be very stereotypical and, therefore, predictable. really weak and disappointing writing, feels like it was written by a 3rd grader.
so toxic and the character’s actions are so idiotic in the 2nd half that I find myself here lamenting about it to this day… never watching another drama of this writer’s again, wth.
the way I’m so excited… Strobe Edge is one of my favourite shoujo manga ever. I literally can’t wait. When do you appreciate the subs will be out once the episode airs in Japan?
honestly… I kinda have mixed opinions about episode 5.
main couple got way too little time together when this is arguably the drama’s forte. what mainly drives this drama are the chemistry and the interactions between CWS and JSO. but i feel like i’ve seen the second couple’s endeavors more…? which, don’t get me wrong, they are cute, but it felt kinda fillerish and draggy, especially considering the unresolved conflict at hand.
which,,, gets me to my next point. why the hell are they dragging it on with the melodrama? showing detailed flashbacks of the same scene MULTIPLE TIMES and whatnot. we signed up for a romcom, but today’s episode didn’t really have much of that, excluding the last 10 minutes.
i really like this drama, and the first 3 episodes got me absolutely hooked, in spite of the recycled tropes. the chemistry was really exciting, but i really hate that the direction that it seems to be following. it really had the chance to do something fresh, spare us the classic traumatised chaebol (which, btw, seems to be 1:1 with my dearest nemesis) and childhood connection, and just follow the chemistry. kind of like the cdrama “the best thing”? something of some sort. i’m a bit disappointed after today, but we shall see how it unfolds.
honestly? not to praise kim jung-hyun, but it is clear who is the better actor, at least compared to heo nam-jun. his scene with kim da-mi in episode 4 flowed really well without it being awkward.

rant over, smh.

disappointing last two episodes nevertheless.
