18/20 Nearing the end but the ml is just... When others pointed out things he'd done in previous eps, I tried…
The preview... It seems fl will really tell 3fl everything. I hope she is worth her trust till the end. She's also facing her grandfather and grandmother, at the same time even. The scene between 2ml and his brother seems like the brother's way to prove to chief minister that he can and will do anything for the throne and to gain the minister's support by eliminating people on his way, even family. I hope ml's father gets the ending he deserves. No amount of "redemption" will make him look good in my eyes.
Despite all that, I'm still expecting the ending ml wished for him and fl, it's the "happier" version of the webtoon's ending. At the same time I'm also ready for a sad one as long as it's good and fits the story.
18/20 Nearing the end but the ml is just... When others pointed out things he'd done in previous eps, I tried to understand it was just him being in love. Even when he went back to his father, afterall blood is thicker than water. But his actions this week are just frustrating. No back-up plan and leaving fl to marry another woman, when he was the one who insisted on staying by her side in the first place. That punch from 2ml was deserved. Him being forced should've been the limit of him "understanding" his father. And the least he could do is be honest with fl. I'm sure she would've understood, but he didn't even give her a chance to do so. Instead he went with the route I dislike the most, the 'I'm doing this for you but I won't tell you so you'll misunderstand and get hurt'. He finally found out about his first love, but him running back to fl is getting repetitive. It didn't sit well with me that its the only reason he went back. So if Court Lady Kim didn't tell him, he's just gonna go on with his marriage? I used to like him loving fl regardless of gender, first love or not, but now I dislike how he just leaves and goes back to her whenever he likes.
Between the unrequited feelings of 2fl and 3fl, it's easier to feel sorry to 3fl. I thought she'd be the type to say the wrong thing to the wrong person because of how innocent and naive she is, but she did quite well this week. She said the right things at the right times and was never out of line. Even willing to cover up and allow fl to have a concubine of her choice. While it was hard watching 2fl being "nice" to ml's friends, the same people she threatened before for a mere pimple. I guess she needed to hear those words from feverish ml as a wake up call.
And I have nothing to say about 2ml, consistent best boy along with 3ml.
Lastly, our fl letting go of the remaining people in her life, Court Lady Kim and Bokdong. What she told them both was supposed to be an assurance but when her voice trembled, she also knew that death is waiting if she doesn't succeed. And she's ready for that end too. Pain.
I think it's her way of protecting him. If she gets married to him then the rumors will stop. Being gay back then…
Probably the latter. She saw an opportunity to get the guy she likes so she grabs onto it. Because if protecting the ml was her goal, she should've considered his feelings and talked to him about the arrangement. It's the least she could do as he was honest with her before.
It's hard to disobey a father's order in Joseon dynasty, plus add the fact she actually likes the man, it's better…
It makes sense because if both parties aren't in love with other people, then at least there's a possibility of developing feelings for each other over time. Imo it's a better situation than a person being trapped with someone he/she doesn't love.
17/20 Seeing fl in pain again and again is hard. I can't believe ml doesn't have a back-up plan after all those confessions. Even 2ml, who gave him a head's up eps ago, has an ACTUAL back-up plan for her. Now I'm more calm and assured when she's with 2ml and 3ml than ml himself. And yes to the queen saying the right things at the right times.
Anyways, I now understand why the writer changed the ml from a bodyguard to a scholar.
16/20 Commander Yoon's death hit me hard. I knew it's common in saeguk, still I was hoping he'd make it. The way fl clutched that ledger just like she did with her father's letter was painful. The person who protected her since day one, more than her own father, is now gone.
And I kinda expected the uncle to still be alive because his personality is someone who won't do suicide. It was suspicious that there was no proper body esp. as a royal. Even the og crown prince and king's bodies were shown.
Lastly, I find the ml's father crying at Commander Yoon's death laughable. He was the one that ordered to pursue in the first place and only said "stop" at the 3rd-4th round of the arrows. Also, him coming to fl's rescue is nothing to celebrate about. He's basically just covering up his own mess. Nowhere as heroic and honorable as Commander Yoon.
My expectations were low esp. with that awful thing called Death Note, but this is actually one of the good LA adaptations. I enjoyed watching Hana and Sota in their 3rd-4th time working together. And Miyavi is so cool.
