god i can't get over just how PRETTY this show is. the cinematography, CGI, the outfits, the makeup .... i'm obsessed lol.
also love the rock-esque music that comes on whenever DFQC comes to kick ass, reminds me of the music for L&R - but honestly, the whole OST for this show in general is stellar, i really hope it'll be available on spotify soon
If you are referring to the part where css mom slapped her, you might want to rewatch that scene again and listen/read…
i'm not refuting what she's saying, but her approach to it is terrible considering all the other things she's done to CSS. do i think she did it out of instinct? probably, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. all the slaps we've seen so far have been against the "bad guys" so to see the mom slap her own daughter before even attempting to explain WHY to her .... yeah, no, i'm not for that life lol
next week is when the painful episodes really start, it seems ... i debated holding off on watching for a week but then i don't think i can because i like ranting here after each episode LOL
i really felt her pain in episode 42 :( teared up when she started crying ahhhh
also, just when i think the mom is getting better, she proves me wrong every time. y'all this is why sometimes families are found, and not always bound by blood. kudos to the crown prince in this ep for supporting CSS - he's very much like his mother
when LBY was talking about how he has a piece of land where CSS can build her own house and grow her own plants and then CSS tearing up and kissed him and his shocked but happy face i'm sfjsldflsflsfsdlfs
forgot to mention, but i do feel bad for crown prince.... he's extremely naive but he's also objectively a good person who would have likely lived a good life if he was anybody else but the crown prince
i really liked episode 40!! it really sets the backdrop for what's going to happen to CSS and LBY in the future; his desire but also uncertainty in pursuing revenge for his family
i feel like CSS and LBY have a better understanding of each other (even if he's still not telling her shit lol but i guess we're getting there.. ish) and i really loved seeing them solve crimes together <3
I agree. One of the weaker actors in this drama. I felt YS’s mum is not so good as well. She can memorise her…
yes! i didn't mind YS's mom but the actress for qu lingjun was the first one that really took me out of the scene because her acting just seemed SO obvious and fake (especially the crying scenes) when she's supposed to be the one that's sincere and honest
crown princess is a freaking conniving psycho omfg literally planned and was happy about someone getting abused over the course of 10 years just because she was jealous and insecure wtf
He wants unconditional love, trust, committment from her... even goes as far as to use her stupidity against herself…
well, to be fair, i personally don't think he meant it that way - he knew he was going to be punished, but i think his main objective was revenge for her and also the censor reports. however! i do agree that he wants love and trust even though he himself has not committed fully and told her anything about literally the BIGGEST aspect of his life, which is very hypocritical of him. i'm guessing this is what leads to their fallout later on, but i'm looking forward to seeing the aftermath and i am a huge sucker for character development :D
i think what really makes this drama for me is how relatable the characters are.
oftentimes in dramas, you have one or both of the leads that are just so perfect, and even their "bad deeds" are still objectively considered to be "good" and everyone seems one dimensional - but here, you can really see that none of them are perfect, but it still doesn't take away from how likeable because we can understand and feel why they act the way they do, and can sympathize or empathize with them.
do i think CSS often does stupid things i don't agree with? hell yeah! but i still love her despite it because i can see that she's a complex character who was raised in certain conditions that makes her the way she is now. LBY is the same - he's not perfect and definitely has his shortcomings: he's socially unaware, and still keeps a ton of things to himself despite wanting CSS to share her burdens with him. their relationship isn't perfect either, but they're starting to understand each other more, and i can't wait to see their relationship (and characters!) progress even more in future episodes.
imo, it's a mark of a great drama when we can all engage in interesting discourse over the story and characters without anyone being mad lol

lby going from bad to worse, this is peak romanticism for them
y'all i'm dead

i agree though, everyone else is great!
