This felt quite different and quite refreshing compared to other c-dramas I've watched. First off, it's a very female-centric drama, where it focuses on the multitudes of struggles for women in a male dominated society. I liked how they faced real hardships, and how they actively worked towards slowly overcoming them. I loved the overarching theme of friendship and found family. I felt invested in all of the characters, and this is also one of those dramas where I have felt visceral feelings of dislike and even hatred towards some characters (SML and his family, I'm looking at you). The costuming of that era is very different to what I'm used to but was very interesting to look at.
As for the romance, while it's clear it isn't the focus, both the FL and ML have a lot of sweet interactions interactions throughout the whole drama. The FL and ML clearly develop a very close bond and their relationship brings a lot of surprisingly hilarious scenes with lots of banter. A+ for chemistry and a great slow burn (which is, unfortunately, still burning by the end of this drama).
It's obvious this is just a part 1 and a prelude of what's to come as there's still many things that are left unresolved. However, I still this is a great drama as a standalone by itself.
