Wang Juan, screenwriter for Joy of Life, said in a interview (Feb 23, 2021), he will finish the script by this year (2021). It's unclear whether it's for just JOL2 or also JOL3 as well. I created a discussion thread for JOL2 for everyone to share updates regarding everything related to cast, filming, and air dates. Feel free to subscribe to the thread get / share these updates.

Has the cast been confirmed? The veterans are the ones who gave S1 much gravitas besides Zhang Ruo Yun imo. The…
I feel the sci-fi elements are well integrated in the novel but there are a few sci-fi elements put in S1 that were completely original, created by Wang Juan (does not exist in the novel).

Any idea on when this will air?

If script gets finished this year, filming might not start until June 2022. JOL Season 1 took 8 months to film. So it's likely filming won't be done until 2023 so the fastest Season 2 will be released is late 2023.

If script gets finished this year, on average filming won't be able to start until June 2022. JOL Season 1 took 8 months to film. So it's likely filming won't be done until 2023. Post-production and getting it approved might take another full year so the fastest Season 2 will be released is late 2023.

This must be hella good drama 'cause everyone in the reviews are giving it 10 out of 10.
It's a great drama because it's meaningful and delivers some deep messages. Not superficial at all.

I don't know if you have read the original manga yet, but in my opinion, the ladies here actually get more respect…
Isn't the manga author (Yumi Hotta) a female so I don't understand why she wouldn't understand a girl's way of thinking. But I agree with you that the drama does a good job for how they craft the female character's storylines.

Well, I did warn you lol. How did you feel about the ending to Wen Si Yuan and Shen Man Qing's arc?
I completely agree...I just heard that the scriptwriter wasn't able to pull off a lot of things she started out with. I'm not sure if the loss of funding impacted this but unfortunately that's what happened. I think it's rare for a c-drama to be very ver strong...there's just so many things that can impact it's ending and so many BE/weak endings for c-drama might be a testament to that.

Well, I did warn you lol. How did you feel about the ending to Wen Si Yuan and Shen Man Qing's arc?
I read quite a few posts where the main leads during interviews revealed that quite a few fight scenes were filmed but not aired due to their budget being cut/reduced when episode 30 was airing. Also, some fight scenes were not filmed/carried out due to lack of time and budget constraints. Quite unfortunate but not surprising for a c-drama.

Eh, I think it's a HE!
I don't think it's a HE. I don't think he survived the incurable poison. In fact, I don't think any of them survived at the end.

I felt the ending was bittersweet...bitter/sad for what actually happened but sweet for what it symbolized and what the characters felt about themselves at the very last moments (esp. the two main leads).
