Someone said so below but I'll re-iterate: it's nice to have BOTH. If we're expecting media to portray realism, then we may as well censor anything fantastical, science fiction, or heck anything fiction at all. Since media is FANTASY in and of itself, I feel like China (as an ethnically Chinese person proud of her heritage) needs to lighten the fuck up. There's too many things for China to be proud of that they're truly wasting their timing trying to gain control of non-serious things that make people happy.
what makes me mad is that they are trying so hard to put bromance and queer bating in almost every straight dramas…
I hear ya, I hate how these producers want the profit without putting in the work. They want the BL fan market without wanting to provide any actual BL. It's taking advantage of an entire niche market so I think "mad" is very justified in some instances.
For people wondering why some BL fans are "mad" about this show that's clearly heterosexual but has scenes of homosexual tones: it's not the show itself, it's the concept of queerbaiting.
What is Queerbaiting? It's an old tactic that's been played from since ancient times (we're talking late 2000s and early 2010s when BL was widely shunned compared to now) where shows would essentially BAIT the niche BL market with seemingly BL scenes... then turn around and say "haha just kidding, we don't do that gross shit" by pushing a female lead into the final coupling. As either someone from the LGBTQ+ or someone that supports/enjoys LGBTQ+ content, viewers (back then) were rightly so upset as, once again, it seemed like whatever show that used queerbaiting was just taking another jab at the BL market.
For many long-time BL fans (such as myself), this kind of show is a potential turn off because it, once again, suggests there's the possibility of a man actually accepting another man for who they are and not just their gender... only for the writers to potentially swap that out simply for someone with a vagina to match the heterosexual "norm".
I PERSONALLY will still give this a watch because I don't mind getting queerbaited if it means a good story (especially if there's the possibility that the male lead will completely disregard gender as a whole and just love on the opposite lead for their soul) but, this is basically a quick explanation for why some people are "mad".
If we don’t get a season two so we can see hot their story end, I’m gonna riot.
Imma be there with you. I said this on another post but if they could do a second season of Color Rush (which is not hate to the actors but the season 2 script was literally as put together as rancid milk) then then can definitely manage a second season of this. Specifically for these two.
That second scene was INSANE 😩My eyes were popping out of my sockets & I was screaming at my laptop like MY…
GIRL (and if not, I apologize), you nailed (unlike Hotae, who tried, but unfortunately failed miserably).
He was absolutely coming on like a freight train for all the wrong reasons (which he later realizes but it's also way too late). Even in ULS, he suggests that MAYBE he's into Donghee. Like boy, I guess you think hetero men just play lip pong and practice tongue wrestling for shits and giggles?! Let's not forget Donghee was literally also still a baby (I don't care, anyone still in school is a BABY to me) and he probably panicked so hard. He literally changed UNIVERSITIES to avoid confronting what might've been life-changing for him.
Also, I think I might've rewatched the wrestling (it's wrestling, just not with limbs per se) scene so many times now that I could give you a thread count on that rug. Who needs a reason to rewatch?
this!! these are the questions I’ve been wondering
Nooo don't skip it! The ending isn't everything; the process of how they got to where they did in ULS is also precious. I'd still recommend giving this a watch!

@Be Browntty I've already exhausted those (TT_TT) There's really not much to go on in the webtoon. If anything I got the vibe that the webtoon didn't place much emotional importance on the second pair at all, which kinda sucked. DongHee in the webtoon was not as good (in my opinion) as DongHee in the drama and movie!

LMAO YASS Bro was ready to get naked and do the horizontal cha cha, experience be damned! UGH my heart. I'm literally right now rewatching DongHee x HoTae scenes from ULS.

same, I was REALLY hoping for a time jump post ULS events. Sadly none... but keeping my fingers and toes crossed they'll hear our plea and give us another spin-off with a happy ending.
UGH I was not READY for the intimate scenes (YES THERE IS MORE THAN ONE). The second one hit me like TRUCK-KUN and left me reeling with my heart fluttering. Good LORD if you have not seen this one, do your BL-loving self a favour and watch it PRONTO. I only wish they had more of an epilogue to AFTER the events of Unintentional Love Story! Do you think they'll give us another spin-off of the post-story? I NEED IT SO MUCH.
